Mambo Hill Resort – A Surprising Gem in Nusa Penida We recently stayed at Mambo Hill Resort in Nusa Penida, booking three rooms—two upstairs and one downstairs near the pool. Given the island’s remote location, 45 minutes by boat from Bali, we didn’t expect much. However, the resort exceeded all expectations. The rooms were clean, modern, and well-maintained, easily meeting Australian standards. The thoughtful design of the property gave it a fresh and organized feel, making it a true oasis on this serene island. The downstairs room’s proximity to the pool was a bonus, providing easy access for a quick swim or relaxation. The views from the resort were absolutely stunning, offering a picturesque backdrop that added to the tranquil vibe. The staff were exceptional—friendly, accommodating, and always ready to help. Their service truly elevated the experience. The food was another highlight, with a great selection of delicious, fresh, and flavorful dishes that impressed everyone in our group. Mambo Hill Resort is perfect for those seeking comfort and great service on this remote island. It offers a seamless blend of natural beauty, well-thought-out facilities, and warm hospitality. We highly recommend it and would gladly stay again!

While much of Nusa Penida is remote, and the island as a whole faces waste management challenges, this is not the case at the resort. In fact, Mambo Hill is exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully organized, standing out as a shining example of comfort and care on the island.

Beautiful view from the balcony, balcony seating, the pools, animal made from towels, private stairs to the pool. Free shuttle to the harbor and the other Mambo location near the beach, have to book in advance.

Noise insulation is not good. You can hear everything happening in the pool from your room. Staff attentiveness can be better. Some staff seems annoyed to even serve you. Same food price as the other location - Mambo restaurant near the beach but the quality is nowhere near as good.

Too much chloin the lovely pool

The views are amazing! Mountain, jungle and pool views from every room. The room is very clean and the beds are comfy. The food is decent, but the breakfast could use improvement. Unlimited free drinking water is a plus. The amenities kit is nice. Its hard to get around Penida without renting a motorbike, so the use of the free shuttle to their sister property on the beach is a major selling point.

The bathroom gets very musty, not much ventilation, so I recommend keeping the doors open. The breakfast could be better, offer more options, and be more filling. We were always hungry after eating breakfast.
