ITH Santa Barbara Surf Hostel

This small hostel is in a beautiful location, blocks from the pier, right on a creek filled with waterbirds. Lots of outside seating. Showers are clean and good water pressure. Very cute mid century modern building. Full curtains on beds and comfortable mattresses. Staff are pleasant and helpful.

The hostel is extremely small. The bedrooms are very cramped. The common room shares the tv seating and dining area. Breakfast is pancakes and coffee, tea. Only Coffeemate for the coffee. (Another guest complained about this). It's nice that the upper bunks are up high, but the ladder/guardrail situation is not the safest, I'm very good at climbing down ladders but others would find it difficult. Finally, I dont expect to come to a Surf hostel and find almost all of the staff smoking tobacco right outside the door at every opportunity.

Die Pancakes zum Frühstück haben hervorragend geschmeckt. Trotz sehr später Ankunft wurde ich von der Rezeption herzlich empfangen. Auch mit dem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis bin ich sehr zufrieden, insbesondere da ich das Hostel erst am selben Tag gebucht habe. Das Bett war zudem sehr bequem.

Eine größere Auswahl beim Frühstück wäre wünschenswert gewesen. Außerdem wäre es ideal gewesen, wenn das Hostel direkt am Strand gelegen hätte. Ich hatte ein Hochbett in der oberen Etage, was etwas umständlich war. Eine Möglichkeit zur Auswahl eines unteren Bettes wäre wünschenswert gewesen.

This hostel is everything a traveler is looking for. Exceptionally clean, friendly, quiet, safe. Very helpful and courteous staff. Best location close to beach, town, restaurants, bus , train and supermarket. Unbelievable value makes it the obvious choice. Amazing find in Santa Barbara.
