Chittoor Kottaram Royal Mansion - A CGH Earth SAHA Experience

Anyone who has visited Buckingham Palace in London, The Doge’s Palace in Venice or Versailles in Paris can get a glimpse into the world of monarchs. But if you want to experience the life of royalty, sleep in the same bedroom, eat the same traditional food, and be treated like a Rajah and Rani, Chittoor Kottaram is a unique and breathtakingly beautiful building where that can come true. Set in a serene riverside location, with the grandeur you would imagine of a royal mansion…but it’s you living that life, being served, being taken on the boat ride and watching a cultural dance. Unlike other hotels, you have the whole place to yourself. You have all the staff for yourself. You have all the rooms, bathrooms, suites, private plunge pool, the artwork, the lush grounds, the verandahs, the balconies…the whole experience. The staff were attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The property is close to Kochi town, which is only $3 by Uber. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, bathrooms large and clean.

Maybe a small refrigerator / kettle for tea etc - in the common area would have been great...

Phenomenal management, staff, and and even better property made for one of the best stays we've ever had. Milton, his team, and the chef made us feel welcome, and treated us like Royalty. The home succeeded in transporting us to a different time, with breathtaking water viewers, unmatched privacy, delectable Kerala business, and a tastefully decorated home away from home. It also helps that the whole home is booked in the reservation - privacy and staff attention is great. Even (or perhaps especially) for people from Kerala, this was an authentic experience from start to end - one that cannot be attained in a hotel or homestay.

The booking process can be streamlined and be made more transparent. CGH's website is poorly designed in terms of booking, but booking.com came to the rescue.

The property is historical & beautiful. It's located in a quiet part of Kochi and there is sufficient privacy. The staff (Milton, Sajitha, Martin & Vipin) are very attentive and friendly. The food made by the chef Sajitha was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals during our stay there. Mr. Milton Varghese organised a sunset backwater tour on the day of our arrival. It was nice & we had a good time. We also had the pleasure of seeing a performance of Sopana Sangeetham arranged by Mr. Varghese.

The duvets in the bedrooms are not suitable for the warm & the humid weather in Kerala so a light fabric material would have been better to cover our bodies when sleeping.

Since we had an early morning flight and arrived at the property at 4am while it was all dark, it did have a very spooky feel to it. But we were overjoyed from sunrise onwards and throughout the rest of the stay. Lovely staff and manager Mr. Milton who took care of our every need. It felt like staying at our family home and being spoilt :) The views, the boat ride, the special dance performance, the fresh fish and super yummy preparations were all more than what we expected. It was indeed a very memorable and special experience for my daughter and myself!
