Peak District Old Forge House in Over Haddon

A peaceful location, just 5 minutes drive from Bakewell, and a friendly pub with food and stunning views within 10 minutes walk. The Old Forge has a well equipped kitchen area and good shower. Special mention to Joe who gave a warm welcome and happy to answer any questions about the local area. We look forward to visiting again.

A bit of a pain watch to TV via internet, but we are not of that generation & it was not really an issue.

The Forge was well done out , and in a fantastic location. The garden and outdoor space was lovely, and the host was really welcoming and friendly

Great location, accommodation well appointed with loverly decor

No facilities for wet clothing when arriving back from country walks. Few basics needs in kitchen/bathroom area i.e. kitchen cling film and foil plus basic cleaning equipment to cover cleaning wet areas when coming in from walks over hills in poor weather etc. Also electric heated towel rail in bathroom rather than having to put full central heating system. Had to fully defrost freezer on arrival as it was unusable plus no cleaning equipment to clean up wet floor after defrosting freezer. Being a dog friendly cottage would benefit from gates being fitted around outside area to stop dog from roaming into private areas. No hair dryer. Guest book would also be beneficial.

Great location, lovely facilities, very clean and comfortable. Had a couple of questions upon arrival (things like locating the outside bins) and host was very responsive and friendly. We'd happily stay here again - our dog loved it too!

Nothing we disliked. A little sheet with a guide to the property (contact number, where to find bins, adjust thermostat etc and maybe some local eat out recommendations) would have been nice but not by any means essential. We had a fantastic time.

This is a very beautiful, well presented and very pleasant place to stay, very quiet right in a beautiful location with fantastic scenery. The bed was very comfortable and the layout brilliant. Ideal for dog walks.

It just seemed to lack that woman's touch. Dishwasher but not tablets, just very minor things which would crown a beautiful, fantastic place to stay. I would have no issues to recommend to anyone and everyone.

Great base for doing anything in and around Peak District

There was no plug for kitchen sink and the over spray while in the shower soaks the bathroom floor but it’s not a deal breaker apart from that it’s a great property

There was nothing to dislike

Great hospitality. Amazing nights sleep. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Will definitely stay there again. And thers some amazing walks. And my spaniel was welcome also.
