Eleanna's House - 400m From the Beach

Conditiile excelente, grija gazdei pentru a avea tot ce este necesar pentru un sejur chiar mai lung, linistea si relaxarea, pozitionarea fata de minunata plaja Episkopi (si fata de plaja Preveli).

Nu am nimic de reprosat.

Eleanna war sehr herzlich. Die Wohnung hat alles, was wir gebraucht haben. Nachts absolut ruhig. Betten bequem. Strand von Petres ist in der Nähe und angenehm. Wer etwas außerhalb des touristischen Rummels wohnen möchte, ist hier richtig.

Die Lage ist perfekt. Nur 5 Minuten mit dem Auto zum Strand von Petres, für mich einer der schönsten auf Kreta. Kilometerlang, breit, nie überfüllt, mit Strandbars, wo sich gut Essen lässt. Das Apartement liegt ruhig gelegen am Hang, mitten in einem Olivenhain. Mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Elena und ihre Familie ist super nett. Ich kam, wegen eine Flugverspätung, erst spät abends an. Elena hatte etwas zu essen in den Kühlschrank getan. Nochmals vielen Dank dafür. Die Lage ist super für Ausflüge ins Hinterland, Rethymno (am besten Sonntags 10 Uhr da sein, dann kann man unterhalb der Festung noch parken die Stadt ist leer, es lässt sich schön bummeln und man geht den Einheimischen nicht auf die Nerven, Touri-Geschäfte sind geöffnet.) Kloster Akadi, Margerites (viele Keramikhersteller und -Geschäfte). Ich empfehle immer wieder gern das Restaurant in der Bucht von Gerani. Als Supermarkt empfehle ich den in Episkopi. Die Woche war sehr erholsam, so ging es danach gut gestärkt weiter zu Freunden auf die Südseite von Kreta. Ich empfehle die Unterkunft sehr gern weiter.

Everything was just excellent - location, hospitality, house, comfort, cleanliness … The house is equipped with all you may need and the very nice host Eleanna and her family are ready to help anytime. From our point of view this location is perfect if you are looking for a quiet place to rest, and to have easy access to the beach, tavernas and nearest villages. The famous Rethimno town is just few minutes driving distance and Chania and Heraklion needs about 1 hour to drive there. Having a car, what was our case, allows you to explore the island easy, and there are too many places to visit, which we didn’t do at 100%, because of the time we had, and we have to go back next year, and will definitely stay at the same lovely house! Once again, thousands thanks to Eleanna and her family!!!

We spent six nights in mid March in Eleanna‘s House which situated on the side of a hill, surrounded by olive trees and very quiet. The house looks new and in excellent condition. Eleanna must have in put in a lot of thoughts on what guests will need for their stays, the bathroom is stocked with more than basic items, the bedroom has sufficient storage and surface area to put away clothing and various personal items, the bed is also very comfortable. Our favorite place is the front patio, so cozy to just sit and enjoy the sun and nature around you, unfortunately due to March weather we didn’t get to spend enough time there. The highlight of our trip is Eleanna‘s father (lives next above the olive grove) who treated us like family, twice dropped off home made food for us to try, the hospitality is simply unmatched and we were very touched by his kindness. If you are interested in buying Crete olive oil, you can buy directly from Eleanna‘s father, we found it out only by chance as Eleanna kind of restrained from promoting their olive oil. We learned on this trip that Crete produces 50% of olive oil in Greece, the oil produced from the family grove is also organic and tastes great with breads. We mostly did hiking in Crete, the countryside is very charming and bucolic, particularly south of Rethymno and Heraklion, we passed by stunning landscape dotted with olive groves, orchards and beautiful display of wildflowers, occasionally goats/sheep grazing by the roadside. We rarely came across other travelers. The only downside is that it can be very windy in spring which was the case on our last day, we just took a long walk along the beach which is downhill across the street, the shoreline is beautiful on sunny days.

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The location is ideal — just a short distance from the beach and Rethymno town, making it easy to explore the area. What we loved most was the peaceful and quiet atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The apartment itself was superb, in excellent condition and fully stocked with everything we needed, from cooking equipment to bathroom supplies. We were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful gesture of local produce provided by Eleanna, including fresh eggs and grapes — such a lovely touch! Throughout our stay, we received exceptional care and attention. Eleanna checked in on us daily to ensure everything met our expectations. Such a warm, friendly nature made us feel incredibly welcome, and her attentiveness ensured our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable. We were also touched by the thoughtful gift from Eleanna at the end of our visit. It was a lovely gesture that made our experience even more special. We wholeheartedly recommend staying here and look forward to returning soon!
