Imperial Suite - Palazzo Storico Affreschi del 1600

We stayed at a few places by now, and the Imperial Suite Palazzo Storico Affreschi dei 1600 was a mixed stay. The location is great, especially if you are looking for the buzz of a historic town centre, both during the day as well as the evening. The apartment is spacious, has a beautiful view from a high vantage point and, evidently, had been - at some point - a grand place to live in.

No aircon (and not even a quality fan), questionable electrics, a 1960s or 70s jacuzzi-style bathtub that made showers neither fun nor relaxing, no noise insulation. At the price point and considering how it could have been, given the pictures and reviews (especially if refurbished / refreshed), we were a little disappointed.

Character filled apartment with beautiful ceilings and spacious, grandly furnished rooms. Fantastic location in the heart of the old town and stunning views. Space to relax in the comfortable living room. Elevator made it easy to get our luggage up.

The bath tub takes a bit of working out and only has a hand held shower nozzle. It was noisy at night as it is right on the piazza but it was ok when we closed the windows. No air conditioning but we knew that. Beds are very firm.

The apartment was gorgeous; the views were stunning. Look no further. The hosts were so responsive. Lorenzo did everything to assist us. Plus he was so sweet.

It was difficult for us to get to because there were no taxis. Be aware that there is a minimetrò right next to the train station but it is not clearly marked. Once you get to the building the elevator is around the corner from the stairs.

The worst thing is the bathroom. It has an old bathtub in poor condition. Water leaks. The shower is difficult to use. The handle comes off the faucet. It doesn't have enough pressure. Furthermore, even less water comes out, because it comes out of both the shower and the bathtub faucet at the same time. The shower can't be hung up. There are no screens or curtains. It's a very high bathtub, difficult and dangerous to climb into. The instructions and videos were sent to us after the transfer was made, not before. If we had known, we wouldn't have rented this apartment. It's very uncomfortable, especially since it's the only bathroom for four people. On the other hand, the lighting in the kitchen is great during the day, but at night it's very poor. We couldn't get the TV to work. They sent us videos, and we couldn't watch them. We would have appreciated if they had personally stopped by, to attended to our needs. All they did was change a light bulb in the kitchen and apologized, saying the house was old and there wasn't enough water pressure.

This apartment is astonishing - a piece of history smack in the middle of the historic center of Perugia, with the most incredible view from the kitchen windows. The place itself is an experience, with frescoed vaulted ceilings and we tired travelers were super happy to just stay put with a book all day at the kitchen table gazing over the rooftops across the valley to Assisi. The kitchen is equipped well for light cooking, with a Co-op market a short walk away. The cafe downstairs serves wonderfully thick hot chocolate, the Tureno Bar at the top of the plaza serves delicious small plates & well-made cocktails until 11 at night. Location is super convenient for visitors on foot. Plaza Danti is a young peoples' open-air party on weekends, lots of energy, but don't worry: when you close the windows and then the super heavy window shutters, you can't hear any noise, its dark and quiet - just what you need to get over the jet lag. We appreciated having a washer and clothes drying rack in the kitchen = use the speed cycle its plenty at one hour long. How to use the bathtub was a cypher as faucet was so stylish we couldn't figure out how to turn it on until the host explained: ignore the buttons they are decorative only. The right hand knob you twist for temperature adjust, and TILT it to turn on water. Left hand "knob" is actually the shower nozzle, you pull up and out.

Hotels, including those on Booking.com in Italy are required to get the passport info of all guests before they check in. With Booking.com this means emailing your passport info to a total stranger or you can't get your lodging access information, which we found uncomfortable. One also has to be tech savvy and be able to text on your phone in a foreign country in order to get the crucial check-in info. Not realizing this almost kept us from getting in the first night, since the outer doors locked before we got there. So definitely get it sorted ahead of time and check in 24-48 hours ahead during business hours, including what to do if you arrive late. Use online English-Italian translation to make yourself understood correctly.

The location was exceptional, right in the main piazza, offering stunning views from the kitchen area. Its proximity to restaurants, bars, and shopping was incredibly convenient, making you feel like a local, with the supermarket and bakeries just around the corner. The cleanliness and beautiful frescos create a truly special atmosphere. The hosts were highly accommodating, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. Additionally, the lift provided great convenience for managing suitcases.

While the stay was overall excellent, additional amenities to match the length of the stay would have been appreciated, such as basic essentials and toiletries. A small attention to these details would further enhance the guest experience.
