Bairro Alto 27

I’ve had a lot of amazing hosts over the years, but Ana Paula definitely holds the crown! She is the nicest lady who met me personally to give the key and made a short and very detailed introduction to the city and surroundings - you can throw away all your planners and maps, she will tell you absolutely EVERYTHING that needs to be known! So, GREATEST host of all times, 100%. The apartment is quite nice, you have all you need for a short/medium length trip; the kitchen is small, but fully functioning, there is space to cook, cutlery, even olive oil. The bed is very comfy, there is in general enough space in the apartment, even though it may seem small at first sight. Two important notes are: 1. The neighborhood - Bairro Alto has A LOT of night bars / pubs, so get ready to a possibility of some cheering, singing and other sounds of fun :D The door of course provides isolation, but if you have sensitive ears - bring some earplugs just to be sure; 2. Lissabon is a VERY HUMID city - not an issue of course, but if you wash a t-shirt and plan for it to get dry overnight - think again :D Other than these two “concerns” we had an amazing stay - mostly thanks to Ana Paula!

The location was great, you can’t hear anything from the street inside the apartment. Lovely host!

The location was very good. Many restaurants in the area with excellent food. There was a Sports Bar around the corner that screened the All Blacks/Springboks rugby match. We were so excited about that. Ana was the best host we encountered in Portugal over 18 days. She took her time to share with us on a map which areas and places to visit.

The corner pub was very noisy. To us, it is part of the holiday spirit, but be warned, over weekends it carries on until 4h00.😃

The location except for Friday and Saturday nights when people partied extremely loudly on the streets until 330am.

This accommodation has an extreme humidity problem. The walls are damp. It smells musty and mildewy. The back bedroom smells the worst. Our towels did not dry at all over the 7 days we stayed here. If the humidity and smell could be resolved, the accommodation would improve significantly.

We did not like it. It was terrible.

The whole apartment was musty and moldy. It's very unhealthy. They were constantly making noise on the street and the area was not safe.

The hostess was lovely and very very helpful. The apartment was clean, comfortable and in a very good location. We loved our stay there.

The location was perfect, close to the center, with a lot of transport.
