"Really lovely lodge - a couple of minor issues but it wouldn't put us off staying here again"

9.0

The lodge was lovely, really clean and very nicely decorated. We loved our stay here and the quality of the features and accomodation was much higher than at other lodges we've stayed in previously on this site. The kitchen was well tooled up and there were lots of really nice touches throughout the property. There were also blackout blinds in both bedrooms - a huge deal for us travelling with a 2 year old and not something we've encountered in other lodges but a massive bonus vs being blinded at 4am by the sunrise :) The sprung auto-locking gates on the decking were extremely helpful for us too, as we came with a dog as well as our toddler and they kept everyone safe. Having rented out holiday accomodation myself in the past, I know how difficult it is to cater to everyone's tastes but I feel they've done a great job with this property. Communication before arriving was fantastic and Kerry and Bill were really friendly and helpful over email.

These are minor issues and wouldn't stop us from staying here again but worth a mention, as they did cause us a few issues. The hot tub lid was badly damaged on one side, which made it really difficult to remove - this was a minor nuisance and didn't detract from the holiday but would be helpful to have it fixed so weaklings like me can more easily get in and out of the hot tub without wrestling with the broken lid. Also, we didn't realise the Timeout Tavern was right next to our cabin - people were quite inconsiderate and sat out shouting and laughing until quite late at night, particularly on Friday and Saturday night. This isn't the fault of the property owner though and for some folk the proximity to the tavern is probably a bonus! :) People also seemed to think it acceptable to cut across the driveway next to our car and stare at us in the hot tub which was quite annoying but again, not the fault of the property owner who is taking steps to prevent people from doing this - just inconsiderate visitors ignoring the pathways and signage. The property owner was lovely and very aware of the few issues we ran into at the property and working hard to improve the areas I mentioned and none of this would stop us from staying again.

"The perfect Christmas location for a single parent and child."

9.0

Perfect location and added touches provided by the host were above and beyond.

Sofa could do with being slightly bigger so that 2 people could sit comfortably. There was only 1 adult and 1 child in our party. I think 4 people would struggle to sit in lounge comfortably.
