Blanco Hideout Railay - Youth Hostel 18 to 35 Only

Brilliant location as the only hostel in railay. The Muay Thai event was really fun and the food options were good. We also enjoyed the upstairs area with a nice cold pool and lots of chill areas.

The beds are SO hard, as are the pillows and there are no curtains. This wasn’t a problem for us as our dorm was just our group but just be aware !

Only complaint is there’s no curtains on the beds

Beds were firm, doesn’t matter when you’re arriving back drunk.

I was stuck in Thailand after spending my money at Songkran and sending my injured friend home, I have always endeavoured to help people in any way I can but have been fleeced for my kindness. Then I worked at Kokos hostel where I was sacked for refusing to write fake names on a sign up sheet and asking to try a different approach. And some staff showed great kindness back we did adventure together for a while for that I am very grateful 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 Had a lot of problems with blanco group after rumour cycles have spread making me feel unsafe and lots of stuff was stolen not just my jackets and power banks but many other people had skateboards, wallets, jackets, earrings taken. Trying to complain the staff banned me from the hostel now I am worried to be on any area with a blanco hostel and will be returning home to Malaysia. I do feel pretty judged against after being in a really tight spot trying to work on my startup and borrow money to survive whilst all the drinking and drugs was going on. Then decided to extend as long as possible to understand the full picture and try and influence positive improvements at great personal cost, to which I was pressured and threatened over the equivalent of £100 after spending nearly £500 at the hostel the previous days. I was accused of things I didn’t do and felt like the social environment was a big competition, didn’t like the need to spend all the time on food and drink and as someone wanting to heal and cleanse it was pretty toxic. If you aren’t a western/caucasian the culture is pretty hard to manage. I say this as a mixed Asian/Caucasian. Being threatened and gaslit by the staff (not all of them) and some guests was terrible. A great shame because I really liked the intiative and have been keen to build community in one of the hostels, but if management only cares about money then the locals will not tolerate a lot of the behaviour.
