"Lovely house but poor communications with host"

8.0

Lovely house and location with stunning views. Plainly furnished with sufficient seating for the 12 of us. It was cleaned to a high standard. The pool was a great size and it was a bonus to have towels provided. The garden was well maintained and is secured so it is safe to let children or a pet dog run around.

Communications. I specifically asked if the Aga shown in the photos would be on and was told 'the kitchen is equipped with an Aga and an electric hob and oven'. The Aga was not on, and no-one responded to my messages sent on the website on how to turn it on plus a voicemail left and a conversation with the host who never got back to me. The electric oven wasn't fully functioning either. Overall, we were disappointed about the Aga, and frustrated by poor communication.

"Fantastic for a family get together, with an awesome pool!"

9.0

The property was spacious and comfortable and the pool was an excellent addition. The location was beautiful despite us not being able to fully enjoy it due to weather.

The lack of outside lighting from the hall to the pool was troublesome, especially as we had to climb a sort set of relatively steep steps. It would have been helpful if there had been a tumble dryer alongside the washing machine (especially for wet towels), but this was a minor issue. Some of the party would have liked some additional decoration for Christmas time, but we brought our own, so not an issue for all.

"Beautiful, stunning Easter egg hunt family gathering!"

9.0

I booked this house for a family gathering. My parents live 5 minutes away but wanted somewhere big enough for everyone. It was definitely a WOW house and exceeded my expectations. The views, the location. Just breathtaking! We had some young children there and it was perfect for an Easter egg hunt and the weather was on our side. The pool was great and warm enough. The house got a little chilly but I managed to use the thermostat and soon warmed up. Towels were really nice and big and soft and plenty of them. Beds were comfy and nicely made up. I wanted to stay longer and will definitely be returning!

There’s only a couple of things, some areas were a little tired and could do with a bit of TLC. I also requested a later check out, just an hour but it wasn’t allowed as other guests were arriving and the cleaners needed to get in there at 10am. Which is fair enough. But it was quite a push to get everyone and everything out by 10am. And I later found out the cleaners weren’t going in that day. Never mind.

"House ok,probably much better in summer, would not book again as better options available ."

Lots of Space, lovely gds, great location for thirsk and Sutton bank walking centre.

House a bit tired, downstairs toilet could not flush properly as drains could not cope, pool cold, not enough pans and kitchen ware. Biggest gripe-chasing £500 damage deposit return , passed over to another site, took nearly a month..

"Perfect for our family birthday celebration ."

9.0

Exceptional location, well suited to a large family group. The pool exceeded our expectations, was very warm. Couldn’t make the most of the extensive gardens, as our visit was in February.

Lack of ensuite bathrooms.

Great place for a big group with lovely outdoor space too. Plenty of room and facilities were great. Good communication prior to and during stay.

Pool was very cold and there were no logs provided for the open fires

"I'd go somewhere else."

5.0

Beautiful grounds and great location for walks in the north Yorkshire moors. We really enjoyed the indoor pool especially in the unpredictable Yorkshire summer weather. It was nice that the inflatables for previous guests were left, the kids enjoyed that. Beds are comfortable.

Firstly we contacted the property staff about everything below and we were gaslit and fobbed off at every turn. To the point I thought it was a bot running the account. It's not, it's just terrible staff and abismal service. The facilities are terrible for a large group. There are no facilities for cooking. There's no big pans or oven dishes. The oven works poorly and is unreliable and is overdue for maintenance. There's not enough chairs or lounge chairs to relax in the garden. There are only four working chairs on the terrace, Two were broken. There are not enough chairs to sit together to eat. We had to bring all the chairs in from other rooms and squash them around the dining table. See picture for arrangement, very squashed. They say there's a bbq in the listing but it was nowhere to be seen, texted the staff and they said there's no bbq. We found it pushed in a cupboard as it was essential to cook for all of us in a state. Cheers it up and managed. House was grubby with stains all over cushions, throws and soft furnishing. Cobwebs and dust in all corners. All kitchen equipment was grubby and needed to be washed before use. Loads of lightbulbs were burned out.
