Cabanas Del Mar 31

There's a lot to love about Cabanas Del Mar. I've spent weekends there ever so often since 2005 and I've got to see the best and the worst of this place. It's still an amazing location. Close proximity to the beach. Safe and secure play area for kids. Mostly clean pools. Conveniently located braai areas. The unit boasts an airy ambiance with slide n stack doors that open up to reveal great views of the pool area, a cool sea breeze and the soothing sounds of the waves. Extremely basic essentials are included. AC works well. But there isn't really much more to be commented on the likes of the place.

This unit seems to have been neglected for a very long time. While it has the potential to be a superb spot for a weekend getaway, it lacks that homely feeling you look for. Missing basic essentials such as braai tongs, a functional toaster, a dust pan, perhaps a few tea and coffee sachets, dish washing liquid, even a cloth for wiping kitchen countertops. The stove shocks you. Please wear shoes while cooking. Only the two small plates work. The two big plates don't work. The cookware is frot and overused. Sleeper couch and sofa is tattered and torn. Bamboo furniture is torn and uncomfortable. Two DStv decoders. Both do not work. Master room bed is overused and collapsing in on itself. Bedding is overused. Second room has a bunk bed. Fair condition. Fair bedding. Bathroom fittings and fixtures are rotten. Extraction fan is clogged with dirt. Shower Tap to switch to tele-shower is broken. Open the sliding doors and you see paint peeling off the wall. As for CDM on the whole...it's just your luck, depending on the crowd that's there over the weekend. Brace yourself for anything from loud, obnoxious people, public urination on common property, littering of alcohol cans and bottles in the pool area, unsightly females dressed with little to no self respect......to the calm that comes after 10pm. Come on CDM!! You need to do better.

Lounge suite uncomfortable. Bedroom side lamps switch works off wall switch. Extra blankets would be a bonus.
