They advertise aircons and mini bars also the pictures of the breakfast etc is misleading

I really enjoyed my stay(s) at the Big "5" Guesthouse. The location for me was perfect, being close to OR Tambo Airport, as I was in and out of there many times during my stay in Johannesburg. The areas of Edleen and Kempton Park were quiet and felt safe, and you can pick up Ubers easily to the nearby Gautrain station or further afield. I very much appreciated the seriously secluded, quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the place - although it was fully booked during my time there, you never felt as though it was crowded or lacking space or privacy. The management was very helpful and very responsive to any issues or requests, and the breakfast was great. I also appreciated the fridges in the rooms, and the use of the microwave in the central area. Thank you Anton and Ru for a great stay in Johannesburg!

Good breakfast. Also liked the fact there was a small bar. Very welcoming and good service.

Shops are a bit far to walk

Exceptionally neat and clean rooms and garden. Electric blankets for those cold winter nights. Secure parking. A warm welcome upon our arrival and very friendly staff. Good communication before our stay. Delicious breakfast. Coffee/tea facilities and fridge in the room. Lovely patio. Located close to the airport. The generator is a big plus!

We had a 3-bed room, but not enough towels were provided. More towels were provided when we asked. The single bed had an electric blanket, but nowhere near a socket, so it was of no use. The single bed had no night stand or bedside lamp. The shower being inside the bedroom and not in the bathroom was not optimal for us. The toilet seat wouldn't stay open on its own. The TV didn't work. Although the room had plenty of space, there was no wardrobe of even a rail or hooks to hang clothes, so we had to drape it over the lounge furniture. The spotlight right outside the bedroom window was on througout the night. We understand that it is for safety purposes, but it did disturb our sleep. Thick curtains covering all the windows and patio doors would have been helpful and would have contributed to a more comfortable stay.
