Well placed to the Arena, central square and many restaurants and cafe’s. The staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English in particular Mary Bell, who was very helpful and provided us with some brilliant restaurant recommendations. On the first night, it was my friend’s birthday and we ate in the fabulous restaurant attached to the hotel: Ristorante Rubiani Verona. The food was delicious and they had an excellent selection of wines served by the Maitre. When we returned to our room, there was a lovely surprise of a bottle of champagne on ice. The hotel itself was a good size with an attached tastefully designed bathroom which was very compact. The breakfast buffet was extensive with hot alternatives and an extensive selection of teas/coffees should one desire them. We attended another restaurant that we wish to recommend Pizzeria Bella Napoli. While it has an extensive Pasta & Piazza menu, it also serves delicious, well priced steaks. We enjoyed a T-bone & a fillet of steak with amarone reduction. Both steaks were lovely. The one with the Amorone reduction sauce was amazing. This city is well placed for day trips via a very user friendly train station. We went to Venice for a day trip and plan to return for visits to Florence, Pisa and Lake Garda. Venice is best visited Monday to Thursday secondary to the volume of people and the many steps & bridges to be navigated.
