The people running 野窓 Nomad in Tsuwano are absolute saints. I can’t thank them enough for how warmly they treated me throughout my stay. I was lucky enough to be invited to join their 新米 (shinmai, freshly harvested rice) celebration event, which was not only delicious but genuinely heartwarming—it felt like being welcomed into a community, not just a guesthouse. Above all, I really appreciated the opportunity to fully immerse myself in Japanese. I was initially surprised to read reviews mentioning that English was spoken here, but I realised they made a conscious and respectful choice not to treat me differently from the other (Japanese) guests. They were incredibly patient and encouraging with my Japanese level, and it gave me the kind of authentic experience I’d been hoping for.

That said, this stay did push my comfort boundaries. I’m not the most social person, and the lack of privacy did wear on me. The dorm-style room doesn’t have curtains or partitions, so you’re left a little exposed—making accidental eye contact or being disturbed by a neighbouring guest’s light is just part of the deal. But honestly, I’m glad I gave it a go. I left feeling like I’d stepped out of my comfort zone and into something meaningful.

Wonderful hospitality, telling us many good places in the town and even seeing off the people (and us) on the SL train. Good and healthy breakfast. Clean and comfortable room. The location is also good, just behind the TSUWANO station. It's just 10 min. on foot to the main area.

早餐是很有當地特色的餐點，不習慣吃生蛋拌飯的人也可以選擇煎荷包蛋配飯。餐點所有使用的素材內容都是跟當地的名產做連結，非常有意思。雖然這是一個對於外國人可能比較陌生的小鎮，但這裡真的很不錯，旅館的主人跟員工都會用很多方式讓你瞭解這裡的美好

カフェもお部屋もとてもすてきでした！ お店の方も気さくで話しやすく、対応も丁寧でとても快適に過ごすことができました。すべてのお部屋から中庭に出られるのも良かったです。

あえて言うなら、シャワースペースが少し小さめだったことでしょうか。身体が大きな方はやや使いづらいかもしれません。共同浴場が問題なければ、近くに日帰り温泉があったので問題ないかと思います！

とても素敵にリノベーションしていらして、素敵な場所でした。

スタッフの方々がとても親切で優しかったです。古民家がお洒落にリノベーションされていて、広々した部屋から日本庭園が眺められました。朝食は地元産の素材を使った和食で美味しかったです。

宿とは無関係ですが、津和野で夕食をとる場合は事前に店の営業日と時間を調べて予約したほうがよさそう(当日18時半過ぎから探したらどこも空きがなく、最終的にコンビニで調達)。

Die Zimmer sind wunderschön eingerichtet und gemütlich – man fühlt sich sofort wie zu Hause. Das Personal ist unglaublich nett, besonders die Besitzerin, die mit so viel Herzlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft alles tut, um den Aufenthalt perfekt zu machen. Das Frühstück war sehr gut – frisch, lecker und liebevoll zubereitet. Ich hatte selten einen so schönen und herzlichen Aufenthalt. Jeder hier ist extrem hilfsbereit und sorgt dafür, dass man sich rundum wohlfühlt. Absolute Empfehlung – ich komme definitiv wieder!"
