Bass Lakes Villa, gamesroom, pool & spa 10 min to Disney

Spaciousness and proximity to Wal-Mart and other shops and restaurants. Easy access to parks. House itself is relatively well kitted out but allowed to deteriorate.

Pool- netting broken allowing access to insects, cockroaches, ferns growing inside the pool area, no umbrella, poor/dirty table, dirty lounger mattresses and seat cushions which were replaced after 6 days. Play room not sealed to outside giving a access tocockroaches and swarms of flies. We fixed these ourselves before getting help from agents. The house itself required - more cutlery, some usable pots, mattress covers for the beds, usable hoover. Stained bed cushions needed cleaning or replacement. Dresser runners for drawers were broken. Shower appeared dirty but certainly needed regrouting to improve appearance. The leather suite needs replacing. Bathroom sink needed repair. Wardrobe door off hinges. The property agent could never be reached by phone and would only respond when they wished to by messaging. There were emergencies which required a quick response and telephone would have been preferable, eg electricity failure which could not be explained and pool filter repair. The latter was fixed quickly.

Pros : The villa is located in a quiet cul de sac, the neighbours on each side were quiet, and the area feels safe. There is a Walmart that's within walking distance from the villa, as well as plenty of restaurants and shops on the main road just a short drive away.

Cons: The villa is NOT 10 minutes to Disney, on a good day we drove there in 16 minutes, but with traffic and traffic lights it can take up to 30 minutes to drive to the nearest Disney park. We actually booked the villa purely because the 10 mins appealed, so that does need changing to the true drive time as it's a misleading title. The villa itself is pleasant enough, but in truth it does need a few loose ends tying up. The photos are not true to what you get. The patio chair covers are different to what's shown and are in need of replacing. I had to de-scale the kettle before I could use it. One of the twin beds was propped up with a book, another twin bed had an incontinence sheet on it (not sure why?) a cot was set up in the master suite, we didn't take a baby, so ideally that should be as and when is needed. The pool table was so close to the wall we couldn't play, some of the remotes for the ceiling lights were missing batteries, so two of our family had to sleep with the bedroom light on for the duration. BUT what ruined the trip for us was the pool "maintenance" man showing up unannounced twice in the space of 4 days, apparently this is normal, but we felt checked up on, especially as the second time he didn't do anything with the pool, but reported back no one was home and we'd left the door wide open with the aircon running. In truth 2 of our party were home getting changed in their room, and we didn't use the aircon after the first day, we're British, we're not used to having a cold house, but his "report" aside, What was most uncomfortable was not knowing when this man was going to just turn up, so myself and our two girls didn't sunbathe by the pool for the rest of the vacation. A few replacements of tired furniture and maybe a courtesy call to let guests know a maintenance man is coming over would bring this property score up. But for us 6/10 for our stay is a fair score.

Space, shopping convenience

Hot tub didn't work, dryer didn't work, cochroaches in the home. Home was dirty. Looked as if it had not been swept and mopped or vacuumed. I had to pick things up off of the carpet and kitchen floor so my baby didn't eat them because it had not been cleaned or cleaned properly. Pool was also dirty. We found packages of chips behind the nightstands in the bedroom as well, that had been there from previous guests. Our experience for our first time staying in an Airbnb was rather disappointing.
