GBSpacious, well equipped, cool on sunny days, efficient heating warms property up very quickly if needed, downstairs toilet, garage for storage, washing facilities, everything provided, quiet and central location. Host very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Bathroom on top floor. Shower over bath. Both more difficult for people with mobility restrictions, manageable if aware and planned for.

GBGBThis was a lovely, clean and comfortable cottage in a picturesque market town. Our stay was specifically to meet with family who live in Kirkby Stephen for a birthday celebration and we barely scratched the surface of things to do in the area but the property would be an excellent base for those who seek peace and quiet and enjoy countryside walks whether those immediately on hand in and immediately around Kirkby Stephen itself, or just a short drive away to the nearby nature reserves. The very friendly owners, Anthony and Fiona, made sure to meet us at the cottage. We’d had a long journey and it was difficult to predict in advance exactly what time we’d arrive so all they asked was for us to keep them updated as best we could. They have clearly given lots of thought to what their guests might need, providing plenty of leaflets, books and guides for ideas of things to do but also a good selection of games and DVDs should the weather take a turn for the worse (happily not the case for our stay).
A few creaky floorboards on the stairs, but don’t let that put you off; we’d be more than happy to stay here again next time we visit, it’ll definitely be our #1 choice.
