This property should not have been listed for rent as it still had/has bedbug issues, evident from the photo of the black stains (bed bug feces) the bed bugs have existed there for some time. But evidently, they had not done anything about it, despite charging $198USD per stay for "cleaning". Accommodation provider owe a duty of care to guests to provide a place fit for habitation and obviously they failed in this instance, when a routine check would have discovered the existence and extent of bed bugs, let alone during "cleaning" that they charge $198 USD per stay. When we first arrived the room was not even made up until we had to chase up. We were bitten by bed bugs, each of my parents had more than 100 red dots on their skin which became discoloured scars that will take many, many months to recover. And we found live bugs and had to ditch the place at short notice. Later they had also failed in not honouring their promise for remedies, i.e. refunds, instead attempting to emphasize our stay as non-refundable under any reason. While at the other hand, Booking.com had not been very helpful either as despite being the entity that took payment they had not done anything to ensure the correct refund is issued or ensure future guests do not suffer the same problems. As of this writing, over 7 weeks on I am still waiting for the refund I requested that supposedly, Novation and RedAwning agreed to.
