Guesthouse Hatenashi - Vacation STAY 22571v

Het guesthouse beschikt over een ruime keuken en badkamers die van alle gemakken zijn voorzien. Er is een wastafel in de kamer aanwezig. Naast het guesthouse is een relatief grote supermarkt met verse producten.

Het guesthouse ligt redelijk ver van de kumano kodo (30 a 40 minuten lopen). Er liep een kakkerlak door de kamer.

It has everything you need: full kitchen, laundry facilities with donation box so coins weren’t mandatory, nice views (not in the room itself). Location is excellent: steps from bus stop and nice grocery store. Other guests were very nice. I had a wonderful time with them, and of course the Honguu area of the Kumano Kodo is legendary.

Misleading advertising. This is a hostel-style guest house. All facilities are shared: kitchen, dining, laundry. There are no private bathrooms. These points are prominent in other posts on Booking.com, but not in the case of Guesthouse Hatenashi. I went online and checked as soon as I showed up to make sure I hadn’t misunderstood. The listing says “Entire Vacation Home.” Nothing about a shared bathroom, except deep in the Description when you click on “See more.” Between the shared bathrooms and the lack of sound insulation on the first floor it was nothing like staying in an entire vacation home. Luckily I had good earplugs, and the other guests weren’t loud.

Great place to stay!

Right next to grocery market for dinner and/or resupplying for Kumano Kodo. Full kitchen and laundry.

There was evidence that the propelty could be cleaner. The air-conditioning unit in our room was filthy, and we cleaned it before using it. The toaster oven had clearly not be cleaned in a while either. The was garbage and cardboard boxes in the kitchen area.

The place is well located close to part of the kumano kodo trail. There is a well equipped kitchen, washing machines, dryers and even a shoe dryer which saved us after a long day hiking in the rain. The host was very nice, when we missed our bus she offered to drive us to Hondu station and saved our day!
