"Wonderful stay, if we’re in New Zealand again we will be sure to stay here again"

8.0

The owner was super lovely and helpful, helped accommodate our last minute change, moving the bed and got a hot water bottle for us. Felt like home each time you arrived as they always waved and said hello if they were around. Had everything you needed for a comfy stay, we had a lovely stay. Loved the outdoor shower and bath.

The mattress needs updating to make an extra comfortable stay. The bed was up a ladder in a little cove so not really suitable if claustrophobic or unable to climb. BUT this isn’t a problem, because the owner is very helpful and moved it to the bottom floor for us!

"Interesting experience for adventurous travellers."

7.0

Very interesting to experience the Tree House. All were squeaky clean and neat with lots of interesting decor, cool woodwork, entertaining reading material and even some board games. Much effort was done to make everything as cosy and comfortable as it can possibly be in a small woodhut. Joss and Wayne are super friendly hosts who met us on arrival and saw that we got settled in and knew how the setup worked. If you're into the Hobbiton experience, this will slot perfectly into the theme as it may feel if you booked a "Hobbit-hole"! Another event next door on the premises played in our favour as we were surprised by an unexpected lovely dinner! The outside shower and bathtubs added a romantic outdoor touch to complete the "treehouse experience", although I doubt if this will be as romantic in miserable weather. If you're into adventure and like discovering weird and wonderful things with the odd camping trip here and there, you will probably love this spot!

It has to be mentioned though, that the toilet, although inside, is an old fashioned "Long-drop / Bucket" style (maybe not for everybody) and getting to bed requires climbing a ladder onto the loft and crawling onto the bed under a low ceiling, which may not be suitable for older or less agile people. The loft where the main bed is located, is very close to the roof - so much so that there is not enough space for a base, so mattress only. Lying on the mattress leaves about 40cm "nose-to-roof" space - definitely not for anyone with claustrophobia and quite difficult to maneuver especially crawling backward and down the ladder in the dark if you have to use the loo at night. There is an alternative sleeping couch on the "ground floor," but this is not good for a proper night's sleep. Some coffee options and cornflakes are available for breakfast, but no milk in the fridge, so do take your own if needed. Sadly, the wifi is very weak and intermittent, mostly did not work on our visit.
