"Sandhaven in South Shields is not fit for purpose"

Very little. The hygiene standards were scandalous. Please see below.

Unmanned, complicated pin system, 2 toilets on the upper floor without wash basins to service 8 rooms also without toilets. Property neither named nor numbered. Numerous other guests had issues. It was so disgusting that I spent only 2 nights there and returned home on Wednesday early evening. No one to complain to. I deserve compensation. It's so disappointing that this is the first time I have used Booking.com and had an issue. Unsurprisingly, I caught a bug due to the unacceptable hygiene issues. Please can you investigate. My room number 5 was sparce, to say the least. I would be grateful if you could contact me asap. I have had nothing but excellent service from yourselves in the numerous times I have booked with you. You will see I have booked the Brownlows Inn at Liverpool commencing 9/9. I'm still not well, and on lack of hygiene alone, I deserve compensation. Regards to a trustworthy and professional organisation.
