Walking distance to the center.

On our first evening, we wanted to stay in for supper. As soon as I attempted to turn the stove on, it would not light up. I called the host who told me he had verified it that morning and that maybe I was not turning knob properly. Well, in the end, there was no gas. A technician had to come to put gas. I was then asked by the host to pay the technician and that this amount would be deducted from the city tax to pay. I obviously refused. Things then just got worse. On 3 different occasions, there was no water. Although the host quickly made the necessary calls for the truck to come to fill up the reservoir, I was totally stressed after the second time we had no water. I was telling my kids to take 5 minute showers. This was not my idea of a peaceful vacation. The host told me that this was a problem in Sicily and in their community because they were not provided enough water, so they had to get additional water privately. We have visited Sicily before and have stayed in vacation homes for a long duration and this never happened. Actually, even prior to staying at this accommodation, we were in Sicily, in another region and everything went smoothly. My opinion is that if this holiday home cannot provide enough water on a continual basis for a family of 5, then it should not be renting out to a large group. The water was not the only problem. Every time we turned the stove on, the power went off in the whole home. So, basically, when we needed the oven, we turned off the lights and air conditioning. It was a disaster....over 35 degrees Celsius outside and the air conditioning is off. Also, the host should invest in purchasing extra forks and a cutting knife. We literally had only 5 forks available for 5 people. So, whenever I would cook and use a fork for cooking, I would have to wash it so that we all had a fork at the kitchen table. There was no cutting knife, for example, to cut something hard, like a water melon. The sponges to wash the dishes were old andused.
