- if you’re a light sleeper, you may struggle with the sound of birds that go on all night so I would recommend ear buds. ( not much that can be done from the staff in this regard) - no mosquito net

The property is a great choice overall. The house is spacious and well-maintained and the pool is clean and inviting. It offers excellent value for money. The double bedroom in the separate building above the garage felt like a private apartment. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The location is good—situated conveniently between Dewata (perfect for surfing) and Unawatuna beaches (15min walk/ 5min by tuk tuk). It’s away from the noise, yet still central enough to explore the area.

There are a few small areas for improvement. 1. Whilst we knew it is a homestay, the bedsheets were not changed and the room was cleaned only once during our 11 day stay. 2. If it gets noisy outside, you will hear it inside as well. We were lucky that it was quiet most of the time since we were the only guests but any street noise and loud neighbours would definitely be noticeable. 3. Mosquito nets in the room would have been great. 4. There were no shower utensils provided. 5. Disappointing hidden charges for using the kitchen three times to prepare an omelette and cut fruit, as this was not mentioned upfront. 6. Although VAT was charged, only a sales quote was provided instead of a proper tax invoice.

A little paradise away from the hustle and bustle of Unawatuna. We saw so mandy animals The guys who work there are very friendly and we felt very comfortable. You can still get to the sea very quickly by Tuktuk and there are places to eat very close by. We saw a lot of different animals and the pool area was amazing we loved it! We will be back, thank you very much!

Comfortable and clean villa with pool and kitchen. We loved everything inside. It’s 15 mins walk from the main street with cafes and 25 mins from the beaches. Quiet place with pool and small garden. Secured territory. The owner and staff are very friendly.

This was our favourite place to stay on our Sri Lanka trip. Beautiful, clean and peaceful accommodation in a great location (about 15 mins walk to most shops, restaurants and the beach). The rooms are spacious and the pool was ideal. Asoka and team are incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They cooked us a lovely traditional meal and regularly provided fruit and fresh drinks, which were lovely surprises. We really cannot recommend Star Light Villa enough.
