Checking in was not pleasant as the guy at the desk was having a conversation in an African language with another person during our check in. I only received email communication on the apartment early evening, which was hours after we checked in. Anytime I phoned the contact number given, no-one answered. The apartment block is connected to a construction site which was noisy and had a negative effect on our experience. The mattress on the bed sinks in the middle, very uncomfortable and we had very little sleep. The bedding has some bleach stains on it. There are no champagne glasses provided. One bedside table is scratched on top.

Great location and the room is very cosy. It's also well equipped. It's honestly good value for money! And the view is sublime.

I think the addition of a small coffee table can make a difference in the small seating area. But I already expressed this to the owners. Besides that, nothing to complain about.

The location is perfect as it is walking distance to my place of work when I travel for business. It's also close to the shopping centre and restaurants. This is why I choose to stay at this building.

Underwhelmed and disappointed. Feels like the hosts are very new to this, or not serious about pleasing their guests. I have stayed in 3 other apartments in this building, but this one fell far short of the standard of the others. Let's start with check-in ... Menlyn Maine had no booking for me and I had to wait over 30 minutes. First the host needed to be contacted so she could confirm my booking and then keys had to be found. I received confirmation from Booking.com the same day I booked so what went wrong here? There were no WiFi details provided in the booking, so I had to contact the host for these. The room: The couch leg broke while I was sitting still watching TV on night 1. The bed is not great, it feels well worn, and has a sprung mattress. The room has an adjoining door, so it's noisy if the neighbouring room is occupied. The kitchen: No glassware other than 1 wine glass, up high on a shelf, reachable only with a very rickety chair. No draining rack & no dish towels. No oven mitt or any way to handle hot items. The oven is unusable, it smoked terribly when I attempted to warm up a convenience meal, resulting in the room needed to be aired out for 2 hours and it was a cold winters night. It's also the first apartment in this building that did not provide a hairdryer. In short, I will never stay in this one again.
