Host & Stay - North Marine House

Very attractive flat. Bright, airy, modern and spacious. Comfortable bed. Ideal view if you're a cricket fan - it overlooked the pitch! Well fitted out. Good location - it was quiet at night.

Instructions for the hob needed. Wifi didn't work (message when I tried to load said Bowlers Retreat had no internet). The housekeeping team hadn't been when we arrived (OK we were 20mins earlier than expected and they arrived 10 mins later after a call to Host and Stay.) Dust on artificial houseplants. Very slippery floor in wet room once wet.

Ideal location for open air theatre and North Bay

No outside space

We enjoyed the location as its close enough to both bays, and has nearby shops and facilities to make a longer stay easy feeling, it was clean, spacious and feels more premium then typical hotels.

You could occasionally hear other guests banging around/talking, this didn't bother us personally but worth noting in case that may be an issue. Also the lamp in the bedroom didn't work during our stay so we either had to use main lights or no lights.

Very good location, with in walking distance to the open air theatre, also plenty of pubs and restaurants close by.

I initially booked this accommodation through Airbnb back in October 2025, initially for a 3 night stay. However my booking was cancelled at the beginning of May 2026, no reason was given as to why it was cancelled. I was then left trying to find accommodation at short notice. Imagine my surprise to see the same accommodation,and the same dates available through Booking.com at a much higher price. Not very impressed at all.

After booking the “Skippers Rest”, I messaged the host to confirm if it was ground floor or not. I was told it was ground floor, but when I arrived, it was first floor. As a disabled guest, this was very disappointing. There is limited street parking, we were staying Mon-Fri and the pass for parking was only for 2 days. When I asked for another pass, they said they will get back to me about it and didn’t hear back regarding it - again, very disappointing.

Quite the home from home. Had most things needed for our stay. Very comfortable and tremendous views from the bedroom. Very spacious with good cooking facilities. Perfect location for the Open air theatre. Only a 10/15 minute walk.

Had everything for the kitchen area, which was great, although missing salt and pepper..

I absolutely loved my stay at Umpire's Watch. A short walk away from the beach with a perfect view of the Cricket Ground. The facilities are very modern and clean with everything catered for. A truly excellent stay and I'll hopefully be back to book again next Summer.

Location,near to venue we attended. Facilities modern with everything you needed. Bed comfortable Overlooked cricket ground.

Parking not available,needed to park on double yellow lines to off load then park away from property. If you can find a space on road it is free between 6pm--9pm only then permit is needed . Balcony needs tidying up. Some damage to carpet and furniture noted..

Location for the open air theatre was ideal. Not to far from the town centre either.
