This was the worst and most dangerous experience I’ve ever had while traveling. The apartment was in terrible condition. The neighborhood is extremely unsafe, with people doing and selling drugs right outside the entrance. Inside, the walls were broken, the fire alarm didn’t work, and there was a door leading directly to an alley filled with drugged individuals. The apartment was dirty, smelled bad, and the towels were stained. The AC didn’t work either. We immediately contacted Booking.com to report this. Their response was to contact the host, who then threatened us. He told us that if we didn’t leave the apartment, we would have problems. Shortly after, someone set off the security alarm and then called us, threatening us again and demanding we leave the apartment within 10 minutes or else. Fearing for our safety, we left and had to book emergency accommodation elsewhere. We didn’t even stay one night. This host is a criminal and a thief. Booking.com is not protecting its guests, but rather supporting someone who scammed us. We are proceeding with legal steps through consumer protection channels in the USA and our bank. This property and this platform are both part of a scam. I also seriously doubt the positive reviews left here are real. They seem fake or written by friends, family, or people who owe the host a favor. For your own safety, do not stay here. More importantly, do not use Booking.com. If something goes wrong, they will not protect you. You will lose your money and be left on your own. Book directly with a hotel or use a different platform. It is not worth risking your peace, your safety, or your life.
