The Oaks- a beautifully appointed 1890s villa

A beautiful, spacious and well-kept historic home.

What a gem! Absolutely brilliant stay in this little slice of heaven with its beautiful garden and lovely and comfortable accomodation. Like stepping back in time but with modern day comforts. Made our holiday so enjoyable, knowing we were coming home at the end of the day to The Oaks 😄

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Comfortable, good location, considerate and helpful owners, very relaxing.

Location was amazing The house had amazing character along with modern touches.

The bed we were in was a bit to hard (personal preference) The China cabinet in the entrance way was a bit worry some as when you walked past it with it being older wooden floors it sounded like it was going to break.

The house is lovely. Very large for two bedrooms and had a large garden. At least to my city boy eyes. We had a great time and my 7yo got to watch DVDs for the first time, he found the old technology a bit weird 😄 I wish we’d had more time to spend at the house it was so nice.

One bed was firm and the other soft. But some people like soft and some firm, so what are you going to do.

Lovely historic home. Amazing kitchen. Great place to relax. Handy location for exploring the Wairarapa. Highly recommended. A small extra tip - Vixen burgers, further up the same street are incedible. Try them.

The Oaks was centrally located, beautiful grounds, off street secure parking, plenty of room, clean, tidy and everything for your stay. We were even greeted by the resident beautiful black and white cat on arrival. Easy walking distance to Brac and Bow Restaurant. The only thing I regret is not taking advantage of the luxurious bath available including bath salts and candles!

Property was better than what the photos showed. Garden was lovely and house was outstanding. Beds were so comfortable, great bathroom with claw foot bath. Continental breakfast with home made muesli, home made jams and chutneys was wonderful. Owner, Margi was delightful to deal with and made a trip to the house to help us with the chromecast log onto the TV so we could use Netflix. My sister, who lives in Cambridge NZ joined me for the trip, and like me loved the location and the house and we would have loved to have stayed longer if we could. I sent photos of the house to my husband in Australia and when we next travel to NZ we are coming here. Was exceptional and easily rates a 10.

Nothing, one of the best houses we have stayed in and we have travelled extensively to Europe, UK, Asia and NZ over the years.
