Grand Victorian Villa 6 - En-Suites, Hot Tub, Cinema Room, Private Parking & Park View

It was nice to have spacious rooms, each with en-suites. The cooker, oven and one of the BBQ’s was clean and there were plenty of pots and pans for our needs (but insufficient cutlery!) The chocolates and coffee pods were lovely and much appreciated, as was the provision of plenty of dishwasher tablets. The beds were of acceptable comfort standards. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but that was down to our own good company and the ability to overlook the negative points which we address below.

On arrival, we feared it was a scam due to the awful dirty street with many filthy and smelly overflowing bins outside the property and what looked like drug addicts hanging around. The outside of the property was not any better as the front steps and door are in dire need of a good coat of paint. There were cob webs and dried leaves all around the door and weeds coming up all over the drive. Inside, we were immediately faced with a damp odour, but on the surface it looked clean enough. Actually however, most of the skirting boards were very dusty as were all the lids of the small bathroom bins. The pillows were either very old or very cheap & there was only one flat lumpy pillow per person, the pillow cases were not even matching! There are curtain hooks missing from some curtains, broken spindles on the staircase and there was even a cockroach in the hallway. At least 3 of the showers did not work properly as they went from roasting hot to freezing cold and then stopped and started intermittently. The shower heads were black and mouldy, there were no shower mats, so they were slippy and dangerous and there was only one toilet roll provided per bathroom with no spares. The description of the property said it was a quiet residential area, we did not find this to be true as there were a number of people hanging around who were very clearly on drugs, we witnessed one drug deal and 3 skirmishes just nearby to the property, there is an adult learning facility on one side of the property and on the other, there are a number of people living there speaking different languages and we guessed that it is either an HMO or filled with refugees, all of whom were shouting and screaming from midnight until after 3am with ALL of the windows wide open.

Large property with each room having its own en-suite. We were all able to eat our meals together in the large dining room. The hot tub was fantastic

We were having a reunion long weekend and it was lovely that we could all have our own en-suite rooms in this lovely home. Also the location was good for everything we wanted to do…(lots of tourist activities in Liverpool plus visit the Anthony Gormely sculptures on Crosby Beach)…without being too busy or noisy. Carolina, who was our contact, was brilliant, very friendly and efficient.

Plenty of space, very clean, fantastic facilities, overhaul very happy. The location of the property was good and plenty of parking.
