B86 - Beachline Apartment in Praia da Luz

This property was a mixed bag. On one hand the location and view was next level. The property was quirky so if you’re a brand new kitchen in the back suburbs kind of person, this isn’t for you. However if you’re like us and a left of centre in an amazing location type, then this is your jam.

If you’re arriving sans car, the fact that you have to walk/ taxi/ hitchhike 5 kms to pick up the key seems ludicrous in this tech driven world. A lock box would be obviously the most practical solution to the frankly silly situation. I’m writing this lying in the bed but actually wondering if I’ve fallen asleep on the concrete floor. Hmm. The jury’s out but I suspect this is one of those ‘Let’s get the cheapest bed possible for the photos’ type moments but forgetting that actual humans will be trying be to sleep on the surface of it without developing bruises. Hans Christian Anderson’s The princess and the Pea comes to mind. It’s now morning and luckily we can actually sleep anywhere, but the addition of some sort of mattress topper would be invaluable for any carbon life form possessing a spine. They threaten to charge a fortune if you don’t take your own garbage, but conversely don’t provide even a clean sponge or dishwashing liquid to do the dishes which result from providing a full kitchen. Oh and if you’re looking for a sharp knife just look up well above eye level to locate an odd draw containing a few extra cutlery pieces. Yep just a few. A teabag or two would be appreciated too as it shows the host a little bit cares about the comfort/ enjoyment of their guests.

Excellent location, sparse but clean, hot shower, spacious

Keys collected from another town which is exhausting if you have a late or early flight. Apartment was not ready at the contracted time of 4 p.m. It was 5.30 and we had to wait for the cleaners to finish Boiler kept cutting out but eventually we found an instruction leaflet left in the hallway. - Danger - the boiler was hanging from the wall. The Patio was a disgrace - the Shutters were completely broken/smashed up, the parasol on the balcony was broken and hanging lopsided. The patio doors didn't lock, you just had to jam a key into a slot, it was very unsafe. No safe meaning we had to carry our valuables around all week Rusty fridge on the outside.
