Narrow Escape - 50ft Boat on the Grand Union Canal, near Tring

Lovely little break away very great experience loved the cosy log fire and decor in the boat! The owners were welcoming and very helpful. Sorry for the late review!

There was a couple of pans left in thee cupboard that had not been cleaned.

squashed in a busy marina, narrow escape isn't really a escape, its just narrow, misleading advert (see pics) hardly the romantic getaway it's sold as, knew we would be static but expected a boat next to a towpath with some space to breathe, it has no river view, it's not a 'end terrace' as listed, it has other boats full length on both sides inches away and just has a view of a car park space the other residents don't want you to use, constant complaints because we have a van, not a car, noisy neighbours, people knocking on the door early morning, then vacuuming out cars right outside at 7am, just felt very claustrophobic the entire time, actually left long before we had to, no proper bed as shown, just a lumpy armless (so no headboard/loose your pillow) sofa bed, heating not on long enough for February, shower door didn't close, toilet flush snapped off so couldn't flush, would have overlooked minor things if we weren't soo disappointed with the location & lack of privacy. Also didn't like being asked to pay outside the app after I'd provided my card details when booking.

We had a lovely 2 night break in the Narrow Escape, it was wonderful. Everything was clean and tidy, the kitchen was well equipped, the sofa bed was so much more comfortable than we expected and the log burner is sooooo lovely.

The shower is small which can’t be helped really, just makes it a bit hard to enjoy if you’re on the larger side

Interesting location, and we never had any intention of taking the barge anywhere, as we booked it as somewhere to stay close to a family party.

Advertised as a 5 bed, or 4 plus child, we (2 septuagenarian sisters) thought of having a couple to stay for one of the 3 nights, but really it was not big enough. We wonder if the 5 bed without more detail is enough?

The place was lovley and relaxing the boat was nice

The boat was freezing the log burner only heated the front of the boat the other end was really cold. There were radiators but told they don't turn them on. I think if you have paying guests who pay quite bit of money £210 for 2 days the boat should be comfortable. If there worried about the price do like other places put a meter for heating. Next boat from us said same they were cold aswell. It would stop people going back in winter.
