Host & Stay - 4 The Mount

The property was spacious and clean. Good location and facilities near by. The parking space was a real bonus too. The kitchen was beautiful and the coffee machine was a lovely surprise! The lounge was comfortable and spacious. Beautiful decor all around.

Although the windows are frosted glass it would be a bonus to put blinds for light coming in. Didn’t affect us due to the time of year but may affect some people in summer.

The property is in a perfect location, it was clean and modern and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Location was great, absolutely spot on for Whitby, a stones throw from the Whale bones and a 5-10 min walk to the harbour! One parking space reserved for the property (if you are looking on Google maps, it's not the tiny space between the lamp post and gatepost to the right of the property, it's the 3 spaces beyond that, no 4 is furthest bay away next to the bin area). Plenty of space in the apartment and good size bedrooms. Lighting throughout the apartment is really good. Bedrooms were on the ground floor meaning in the summer heat, the bedrooms were cooler than living areas upstairs... Plus much easier to access with suitcases. Each bedroom had a clothes rail, bedside table and the beds were clean and comfortable. Lovely arch window in the sitting room, perfect for a morning cuppa and a bit of reading. Bathroom and toilets were good, clean and excellent water pressure and we never ran out of hot water. A few little toiletries were left in the bathroom which was a nice touch.

Not all windows in bedrooms had blinds or curtains, small top windows let in light as soon as the sun came up. Shower grip on the pole was broken. The tablet compartment lid on the dishwasher didn't click shut so unusable, no washing up liquid, no antibac spray to keep things clean. Communication with Host & Stay through Booking.com on the run up to staying was automated replies and my questions had to be asked several times and even then, not always answered. However on arrival and reporting the issues listed above, the customer service was really good, couldn't fault it.

Location was excellent. Close to town centre and all amenities. Facilities within the property were excellent. Kitchen had everything we would want and more besides - freezer needs defrosting. Would have been useful to have paper guidelines for the appliances rather than a download! Lounge and dining area excellent. Plenty of seating and beds comfy.

Couple of cosmetic gripes - missing blind in one of bedrooms and bathroom fan didn't work. Also a property for 8 people really needs more than one shower! Adequate number of toilets. The big issue was parking. I appreciate there was only one parking space but it was not apparent that after the yellow lines we were on private land - a sign would be useful. This would save us incurring the wrath of the landowner and a 15 min diatribe about the parking issues he has had over the years!! Also nearest car park was quite expensive considering we would be there for 4 days.

Good location, clean and modern accommodation. Good communication from hosts and easy to access

Only 1 bath/shower which could be a challenge if fully occupied. Took 2 weeks to refund security deposit, should really be immediately following post-departure clean. Only 1 parking space, plenty of on-street parking nearby but only for 3 hours.

Plenty of space clean and easy to get to every thing.

Only thing we think would help people is maybe a television in the bedrooms.

The property was extremely clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Everything was modern, nicely decorated and the place provided a relaxing stay for everyone in our party. There was plenty of room for us all and the location was excellent! We will definitely be booking The Mount again for any future visits to Whitby.

The property was warm but in one of the rooms the heating didn’t warm up the room the same as the others. This was in the largest double room.
