Close to the lanes, good for younger people

Dirty walls, tv has been removed from the wall, no radio, second sofa bed was very uncomfy and the walls had stains on

They cancelled on us three minutes before check in time so we never got to see the property.

"Very poor"

nothing

we arrived at 4pm (check in time) only to find out that the keypad to get into the flat wasn't working so we had no access. tried to call the property multiple times but it kept saying the phone was turned off. messaged the property on this app and took them 10 minutes to reply. they said they were sending their maintenance team only to then ask 2 minutes later if they could relocate us. we clearly had no choice so were sent 15 minutes away (a lot further from the location we wanted as we were in town for a gig and wanted to be as close to the venue as possible to avoid having to pay for ubers) we eventually got to the second location after 5pm but the code we were given for the lock box to the keys was incorrect. after another hour and being given 3 different codes for the lock box that didn't work we were finally given the correct code to get the keys out of the lock box. for just under £200 this place is definitely not worth it, not worth the hassle. we ended up being much later to the gig than we wanted and had to spend money on ubers that we were trying to avoid. wouldn't recommend if you want and easy going place to stay. also not to mention that one of the kitchen drawer front were broken off.

"Unacceptable. Checked out earlier than planned."

3.0

Clean and in good location.

On arrival day I received an email saying the facilities in the room I booked were unavailable (didn’t say what facilities). They were going to switch me to another room and gave me new contact details (different from those listed on Booking.com). Tried to contact host but no luck. I contacted Booking.com to ask if it was common practice to advertise something then switch customer on arrival day. Booking.com could not contact host either and noticed several previous customers had issues and rated the accommodation poor or very poor. Messaged host saying the shower, heating, wi-fi and kettle must be working as a minimum. They replied, everything is working in my replacement room. Arrived location, no power, no heating, no shower etc. Spent 2 hours in total darkness trying to check in. Host was not answering calls on either of the contact numbers. I just received delayed replies to texts. Eventually switched to third room. It was cold, boiler was off, no hot water, no wi-fi, no instructions on how to turn things on, and host uncontactable. Booking.com were looking for alternative accommodation but at that late stage I needed to head off to my event. In short, the accommodation did not come with the advertised facilities, and no attempt from host to rectify. Hence, I checked out a day earlier than scheduled. I am awaiting a partial refund.

"Unacceptable"

1.0

The area. The cleanliness but that's the very least you can expect upon booking an accommodation.

Me and my friend were in Brighton to work and during the whole day on Sat, the property kept sending me messages via the Booking app to advise that we were getting a different flat (with no TV but fair enough) and other things which made me think they will be reactive if need be. Great. After work we headed to the flat at around 8.30pm. Reading the check-in info, we looked for a key safe, couldn’t find any. Tried to call the contact number (support available till 11pm as per property info), no response. After a few attempts to call I left them a voicemail and a message on the Booking app . About 30 mins later I got a text saying that they will be in touch shortly after assisting another customer. Fair enough… Another 30 mins later, I got texts saying I didn’t need a key safe, that it was a smart lock (never heard of it before) and that ‘they needed to talk to the landlord of this’ (?). Given the confusion, I tried to call one more time, no response. After texting back and forth, I could get clearer info about the smart lock and could finally check in. We just dropped our stuff off quickly and went out. When we came back in later, it was freezing and we could not see any thermostat or anything. Radiators were cold. The heating system was clearly not working. In England. In February. Then my friend wanted to take a shower, but no hot water. In England. In February. And no boiler on sight. The listing page said there was heating, as if it needed to be mentioned. In England. In February. Also, no wi-fi although it was included in the deal. Next morning, I had a message on the app to ask if the checkin situation had been solved. Who was texting the night before then? I complained and asked for a refund as it’s only fair but it was rejected it as ‘we already stayed at the property’. We paid on time, we left the flat just as we found it. We did our part whereas they didn’t provide what we paid for. Escalation to Booking is in progress.

"might aswell just stay at a hotel."

4.0

bed was comfortable and the location is good.

there was NO cooking equipment so couldnt actually use the kitchen facilities and no kettle or toaster shown in the photo. we weren’t provided with a wifi password and the owners never messaged back and i’m convinced they gave us fake contact numbers because everytime we rung (multiple times during our stay) to sort this out, our calls went straight to voicemail. since the tv is a smart tv it requires wifi to connect to channels so we couldn’t use that either. there’s was a big brown mark on the wall of the bedroom, not sure what it was but wouldn’t be hard to wipe off and definitely wouldn’t be missed by a cleaner. the shower had hair all over it and what seemed to be conditioner over the walls, evidently also not been cleaned. it’s just off putting when these obvious things have been missed, made me think none of it had been cleaned at all. it’s worth another mention how virtually impossible it was to contact these people, when we first arrived they had given us the wrong code to get into the flat and we were stood outside in the rain for 30 MINUTES waiting for a message back. we did bring these issues to booking.com first so we could get some kind of compensation and they tried to contact the owners and even then they apparently didn’t get a response either.
