Heavenly cave house with magnificent Caldera views. Super helpful host had a number of great suggestions to enhance our stay. Thank you

The host Vasiliki was very helpful and responsive. She helped to arrange our transfer from the port and to the airport, introduced Oia to us and also recommended a few good restaurants. Excellent views from the house, exactly as per photos. The day bed areas were nice to chill and relax in. Location was really convenient - a few minutes walk to the main area and parking spot where we were dropped off. We had a few mosquitoes in the house on the second night luckily there was a mosquito repellent plug in available for use. A welcome bottle of wine, filter coffee and honey/jams were also provided!

Morgens wurden wir von den ersten Sonnenstrahlen geweckt. Ein schönerer Sonnenaufgang direkt aus den Fenstern werden sie kaum erleben. Aus jedem Blickwinkel der Wohnung hat man eine atemberaubend-schöne Aussicht auf die Caldera mit dem blendend gekalkten Küstendorf, das betörend tiefblaue Meer und dies alles erst noch an bester Lage. Es war auch spannend, den Touristenströmen in aller Ruhe zuzuschauen, um zu Zeiten abseits der Massen dann wieder durch die vielen hübschen Gassen zu schlendern. Vasiliki hat uns mit offenen Armen sehr herzlich empfangen, uns kleine kulinarische Aufmerksamkeiten bereitgestellt und war jederzeit eine 5*-Gastgeberin. Wir werden diesen Aufenthalt nie vergessen und hoffen, eines Tages zurückzukehren. Vielen Dank für alles Vasiliki! Du bist die Beste!

Oia has a manic energy to it with the crowds of tourists all crowding to take pictures of the key sights. This is why Elias house was so magical. The patio and view from the windows allows you to have your own slice of privacy to enjoy the best view of the coast. You are down hill looking up at the most famous blue domes. When the hundreds of thousands of tourists are taking pictures of the blue domes, Elias house is in the background! Already it's been a joy to look at pictures online of the blue domes and point to the background and say, "that was my hotel! I drank wine sitting right there!" It the best way to experience Oia in my opinion, just enjoy the view from the patio, crowd free. We ended up getting take away dinners to eat at the house and enjoy the view. Our host was gracious providing snacks like bread, crackers, jam, and a bottle of wine. It was so welcome after a long ferry and bus to get there. The patio is connected to 2 other hotel rooms so you have to walk across their patio to get to Elias house. It meant that the patio is not totally private and if people are sitting out, you can see them. There is a small privacy divider, but it's not much. All the houses are literally smashed on top of each other so it's not a surprise and to be expected almost everywhere. It did not diminish the experience. I was surprised that tourists generally were respectful and we didn't find them crowding around the patio or entrance, even though there isn't a lock on the gate. They stayed on the main paths and didn't venture down to bother our peace. The house is spacious and comfortable. I loved seeing the white coast line from the bathroom. Don't worry, no one can see you in there. We went up the hill to the iconic picture location and zoomed in on the bathroom windows and they are too far away to see anything.

Our host was supposed to meet us at the bus stop in Oia but we waited 30 minutes in the hot afternoon sun for her to arrive. There was a miscommunication and our text message didn't go through timely, there are areas of no reception while traveling on the bus. I would recommend sending a text with an expected arrival time before boarding the bus instead of saying, "we are leaving Fira now". It was a challenging beginning to an otherwise lovely stay. Our host was otherwise lovely, gracious and timely with other communications.
