I booked and paid for a night 3 days in advance. The morning of my reservation, I drove over 4 hours just to have them tell me they were closed on Thursdays. Then, over the phone with someone claiming to be the owner, he tried to act like it was my fault that he wasn't there. Then, after repeatedly providing proof that I had paid, he complained about how he didn't know where the payment went. When I told him that the location of the money was between him and the booking site because I did everything I was supposed to do, he continued to act as if all of this was my fault. For the sake of honesty, the point of contact, after initially hanging up on me and then refusing to answer the phone, did, eventually, demonstrate genuine regret and concern over the situation as he knew that I was wasting most of my afternoon trying to rearrange lodging instead of doing the one thing I wanted to do in the town.
