Entire Private STL Apartment - 51A

Never got in, scam, horrible property.

It was quiet accommodating and exactly as advertised

It was upstairs

Nothing about it.

The couch is taped together and super stained and dirty. The bed has hair all over it when we went to get into it, as well as dirty. The window in the bathroom in the shower has black mold all over the window sill and the paint is peeling away. The toilet is coming off of the floor. There was no washer as advertised, nor was there a hair dryer. The people downstairs were extremely loud. There were also gunshots every night as we were trying to go to bed.

Nothing about the place was good, it was so bad that I couldn’t stay and they wouldn’t even refund my money after agreeing to process a refund. The whole fee I paid for 7 days was lost to these fraudulent people just like that.

I arrived to meet the place in a mess, dirty and reeking with filth from the previous occupant. Added to that, I was kept outside waiting for the key code to enter for over 2 hours in the cold (because they were not even organised enough to send the email containing that ahead of time), only to enter and meet a totally dirty scene. A cleaner only arrived after I had decided to leave the apartment and get another accommodation. I reached out to the property manager to let him know that I’d not be staying and requested a refund. He told me he’d process that with booking.com and it’d get to me. I believed him and didn’t make contact again until a few days later when the refund had not come through. I called booking.com who then reached out to him and he denied the entire conversation, refusing to yield the refund and claiming that he never agreed to a full refund. Whereas, they are well aware that I never spent even a night in that place, for a booking of over 7 nights. And they were comfortable to take all of my money with no service provided. Even booking.com could not mediate effectively in the matter, saying they were not able to reach a resolution and asking me to contact the property directly, who of course refused to issue a refund. Isn’t booking.com supposed to hold such funds in escrow or something, until services are fully rendered? I’m totally disappointed in both the property and booking.com for this mess of an experience, because for their sake I lost over $400 for a 7 day booking I never used for even an hour, and I completely feel scammed.

OMG, it is NOT even an apartment. Do you guys verify any thing at all? Before the listing is created? It is part of a 1925 era town home. The unit I rented is upstairs with a narrow flight of stairs. Because I had to park on the street, I could not leave by bags in the car. I had to haul them up and down, the next day. The listing is totally misleading and does NOT suit out of town travelers at all.
