Oceano - Carbis bay, St Ives, 1 bed apartment with free parking near to the beach

The property was lovely, everything we could possibly need was provided, plus a couple of small thoughtful gifts. The host made the property available early as there was no-one there the night before. There were just 2 pages of short clear instructions about the things we needed to know, none of the usual pages of tasks to be done before leaving that you usually get in self-catering accommodations. The whole experience was easy and end enjoyable. There is a lovely Spanish restaurant 3 minutes walk away and a bus stop almost outside the door.

Great communication with Andrew the owner. Convenient location and parking, ground floor easy access. Very comfortable bed and sofa, well-equipped kitchen. Patio doors and outside seating. Delightfully quirky fireplace which is also very efficient if you need warmth. Spacious, quiet and spotless. Short walk to bus stop for St Ives, I recommend taking the frequent buses rather than driving and parking in town as the car parks are tricky to find and expensive. Local shops in Carbis Bay for basics, a few restaurants and takeaways and a large Tesco nearby. The welcome pack of Cornish tea and coffee, fresh milk and delicious Cornish biscuits was much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.

Felt a bit clinical at first as the decor is white - until we discovered the fireplace! Also nice under-cupboard light in the kitchen lends colour. Lighting in the open plan kitchen and living area can be adjusted to create a cosy mood. Basically, there was nothing we didn't like!

The property was modern, clean and comfortable. Often I don’t like to put my bare feet on the floor when I am away but here I felt totally at home. I even used the blanket which was folded over the sofa which would usually be a big no for me. A few supplies were very welcome. How often is a pint of milk left in the fridge for you? I felt very welcomed and cared for by these small touches. My messages from Andrew were pleasant and I was left entirely to myself which was perfect. Also there was loads of piping hot water which made for a great shower

The main entrance door to the apartments isn’t looked so anyone can access the main building . The key to the apartment can not be removed from the lock box because it is attached by a wire. When I arrived the code to the lock box wasn’t scrambled . The key is only used to open and lock the door from the outside. Essentially anyone who can access the key from the lock box can enter the property at anytime. There is no safety chain inside the flat for added security. As alone female, i felt vulnerable and wasn’t able to sleep the three nights I stayed here. I had to place tins of food items behind the door so they would fall and alert me if someone tried to enter the property . In addition to this , the bathroom had a strong smell of urine .
