Horizon House, Modern Studio Flat, Free Street Parking Space, Oxford

The apartment was okay, but the parking situation was misleading and badly handled. When I booked, the property name clearly included “Parking Space”, which was one of the main reasons we chose it. After arrival, we were told to park on the street. Later, after we had already parked, the host contacted us because another guest wanted to use the parking area. It felt like the other guest’s comfort was treated as more important than ours, even though we had also booked and paid for accommodation advertised with parking. We were made to feel that we should give up the space for another guest. After a long discussion, we were eventually allowed to keep the parking space, but the situation was stressful and unfair. The listing name was also changed after our stay, which made the original information feel misleading. There was also noise at night, so we could not rest properly. I would not book again.

Le logement est spacieux, bien situé pour aller dans le centre d'Oxford en bus (12€ pour le bus illimité 1 journée à Oxford pour 4 personne) et le parking privé devant le logement est super. Les informations sont complètes et le gestionnaire du logement est réactif.

La qualité du logement et de ses équipements est médiocre et presque plus rien ne fonctionne correctement: ustensiles de cuisines très abîmés (certains inutilisables), l'insonorisation n'est pas bonne, portes qui frottent, douche qui fuit au point de ne pas pouvoir l'utiliser (heureusement il y en avait une deuxième dans une baignoire à peine en meilleur état), poignées qui bougent, fenêtres dures à ouvrir ou à refermer, griffes et dégâts mal réparés... Il manque des stores occultants dans les fenêtres des chambres (dans une située à l'est). Le nettoyage est correct tant qu'on n'ouvre aucun meubles, ni le frigo... les tiroirs et la vaisselle était sales. Pour les ustensiles de cuisine abîmés, nous avons contacté le gestionnaire le premier jour qui a réagit rapidement, mais les nouveaux apportés devaient venir des logements voisins et n'étaient pas en bien meilleur état.

Logement correct, instructions très complètes qui facilitent l'accès à l'appartement, facilités de stationnement dans la rue.

We arrived at the property to discover hygiene and safety violations (photos attached, but booking.com only allows 4). The mattress had large yellow stains at the head of it and other stains in various areas, and was without a mattress cover. The door handle was one firm pull of being dislodged from the door making the latch unable to be opened, which could’ve been hazardous in the event of a fire. The microwave had a part of it falling off and the skirting board was broken in the kitchen. Parking was one street over, not the spaces in the photo. The property is advertised as “brand new” in the host section of booking.com, but this is inaccurate as it’s clearly been used without upkeep or health and safety standards being adhered to…when you pay for accommodation you pay for quality assurance of exactly that - healthy and safety. We left within one hour of checking in and booked a 4 star hotel for the same price…we wanted the studio because we figured it would be nice to have the option to cook healthy meals rather than dining out every night.
