Lilla's House - Amalfi square & close the beach

Loved the apartment so much and the location was excellent! We loved the view of the bell tower out all 4 windows of the ocean side of the apartment. The kitchen window(on the opposite side) is huge and beautiful with views of Amalfi mountains. The windows have roll down screens which is a huge bonus to sleep with the windows open and no mosquitoes!! Huge 2 bedroom apartment with large kitchen and large entry/dining room. We found 3 ways to access apartment from main street in town, one of them had far less stairs than the entrance by the Duomo for those with big luggage like ours. Our host Enza from the rental agency (owner does not live in Italy) so graciously carried our big suitcase up the steps for us upon arrival! She is so strong and very nice! Apartment has very good washer and drying rack, good air conditioning, and comfortable bed in the bedroom my husband and I slept in. The bed in the room with the beautiful carved wood furniture is very hard like plywood so we didn't sleep in that room but the room with the white furniture had a very comfortable mattress and pillows. We loved meeting Enza and the cleaning lady Letizia who also cares for the elderly lady next door so we were able to greet Letizia daily with Buongiorno and Buonasera from the large open kitchen window as she came and went each day. So neighborly and it was nice to see and hear the sounds of daily Italian life from all the windows. Such an authentic Italian feel and exactly what we were hoping for. We would definitely recommend this large apartment for a couple who is staying in Amalfi for a week, as we did.

As mentioned, one bed in the room with the dark carved furniture was hard as a rock. It could use a soft memory foam topper ( we highly suggest this to the owner to considers getting one) This would make the 2nd bedroom more usable for guests that dont like super hard beds. The apartment could also use some extra blankets as the nights get cooler and a bit chilly. But since it was only my husband and I we took the extra sheet from the unused bedroom and doubled up on the sheets on our bed so it worked fine for us in the nice October weather. Lastly, it is hard for foreign guests to get Euro at banks or ATM without being charged extra fees. We like paying entire cost of rental including per person city tax with our credit card and that is not the case with some rentals who ask for €3 per person per night tax in cash at time of rental. So the only 3 recommendations to make the apartment excellent are: 1. Memory foam topper for hard bed. 2. Extra blanket in both rooms for guests who feel cold at night. 3. Include the €3 per person per night city tax in the overall rental price at time of booking so guests don't have to get Euros to pay in cash at time of check-in.

I knew about the stairs as read other reviews. But yes they are brutal. But good to help work of food.

The view the ambiance of the area.

There was no where to sit except the kitchen table or on a bed. A couch or some place to sit and relax would be nice. Advertising this apartment as being air conditioned is misleading. There is 1 small unit in the hallway that only cools the hall. There is no air flow into the bedrooms or kitchen. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms would be a game changer. It never got below 28 Celsius or about 82 degrees and that was in the hall directly below the ac unit. The bedrooms were miserably hot. The toilet tank did not have a lid and as it is on the wall above you. If you happened to be using it after someone had flushed it and it was refilling you would get sprinkled with water from overhead.

It was not clean at all, we found hair everywhere, even on the bed. After contacting them, they said that it did not happen again, and I texted them after that, but I did not receive a response. This apartment is too old and requires a major renovation, particularly the bathroom. It is not worth the money.

Fantastic 2 bedroom apartment in Amalfi with views of the cathedral tower and the sea. Seven o'clock wake up every morning by cathedral bells was fantastic, and bells on a Sunday are something else. Lovely little veranda with mountain view for morning coffee and sundowners. Washing machine and fully fitted kitchen and 2 well sized bedrooms. Our host Vincenzo was absolutely amazing! He met us with the key (even stayed a bit later as the ferry was delayed) and helped carry our luggage. He was immediately available on whatsapp if any queries and assisted right away, without being intrusive. Extremely friendly and helpful! The location is absolutely stunning!

I can't think of anything that I did not like, as the apartment was lovely! Just 2 things - not bad but other travelers may want to be aware. (1) you need to climb about 100 steps (differing sizes) to get to the apartment. This is good for working off the pizza and gelato, but may not suit someone who is elderly or struggles with stairs. I really struggled to get my suitcase up when we arrived and only found out afterwards that there is a porter service that charges 10 Euro per case. So either pack light or arrange a porter before the time. (2) The apartment is not serviced. We did not mind as we enjoyed the peace and found some clean towels in the cupboard, but some people may want the apartment cleaned.

The apartment was really pretty, very clean and with all facilities. Enza was super nice and helpful. The room heating and hot water was a life saviour as the temperature in Amalfi had dropped during our stay.

Location was a bit of an issue as it wasn't very clear from the listing how many steps you have to climb to reach the property. The apartment did not have spare umbrellas which we found elsewhere in Italy. There was no porter service offered and the stairs were too steep. The bed in one room had metallic frame and kept making creaking noises.

Right in the centre of Amalfi. From the windows you can enjoy the sights of the cathedral bell tower and the smells and sounds of this historic Town. Great streets and alley ways around the appartment to explore and find lovely resteraunts and shops. The Appartment is large with all the required fascilities. The hosts were available and addressed our needs promptly and efficiently.

The steps could be an issue for some. It certainly is a good workout to get to the appartment. We did discover however that the direct rout is probably not the best and soon found more gentle approaches by using different streets. I was a little suprised that our hosts made us drag our cases up so many stairs when a few diversions would have made the asscent much less stressful on my 60 plus year old ticker! Its feedback I hope our host may take on board for the benefit of future guests. The other real issue we had was the sheer overwhelming number of tourists. The place is packed and it does start to wear you down after a few days. The evenings were much more pleasant after the day visitors had left on the last Ferry.
