"Charming and comfortable"

8.0

My wife and I spent the weekend at Hotel Zagreb in this historical thermal spa resort area. It was quite interesting to see the intricacies of how multiple facilities interact to provide a pleasurable experience for visitors. One must pay close attention to the signs in order to navigate to an intended destination. This goes for the roads leading into the resort area and to the facilities themselves. Our portion of the hotel complex was quaint and dated but very well kept and quite clean. The heat in the room was rather a bit much, thus even though temperatures were chilly outside, it was necessary to keep room windows partly open to avoid sleeping in sauna like conditions. The spa and thermal pool were not large, but more than adequate. One must be quite active here to accommodate for the large portions and very tasty menu items provided during any stay. The buffet was very good in quality as well as selection of fare. The associated Kaiser restaurant in particular provides some of the best food ever served in my experience. I and my wife were astounded at the fact that each portion of the dinner we consumed had been prepared to perfection. Will we return? Yes, but probably only during an off peak time of year, as we can overcrowding being an issue; especially for parking a vehicle. It should be noted that all staff were very professional and polite, as well as correctly informative upon request.

"Romantic weekend"

10.0

This was our first visit to Rogaska Slatina and I must say that we're super sattisfied. Reading the reviews here I was little perplexed but I can say that the reviews are incorrect and too harsh. The Hotel Zagreb is a "extension" of the GH Sava. The building may look old from the outside but the interior and the rooms are newly refurbish, renovated in 2015 so you can say that is almost "new" :). We booked the "Romantic weekend" package and everything was perfect, from the check in to the check out. The ladies that works at the front desk, Gordana and Kristina were very helpfull and polite greeting us with a big smile. All employes were smilling at all time and very friendly, when I say all I mean all (front office, bell boy, restaurant staff, spa staff and expecially the young lady working at the swimming pool, she was really great!!). So...don't avoid this beautifull place because of some review, go there and make your own opinion :)... We hope we'll be visiting this beautifull place soon.

"Nothing special"

6.0

Used to be a great hotel, but as it is a part of much better Sava hotel, you can enjoy the facilities in hotel Sava, especially a wide variety of good food in the restaurant. Rooms are quiet and quite big. Free wi-fi, safe in the room and parking.j

"Cost-conscious corner of Grand Hotel Sava."

8.0

I enjoyed my 2 weeks stay at Hotel Zagreb due in big part to efficient and cheerful staff, its being a part of Sava thus sharing restaurant, cafes, lobby, reception, pool, saunas and treatment center. Located in Spa park of Rogaska Slatina close to bus and railway stops, supermarket, some other shops, few cafes etc. It`s a small town so for excitement go to Celje (1 hr bus) or take longer transfers to Ljubliana, Vienna, Graz, Venice. Water drinking pavilion is a few steps away, hills are snaked with trails, wine & beer are cheap and plenty - all essential ingredients for my treatment. There is music entertainment twice a week at the Hotel, other venues in town, staff is very helpful, great & tasty selection of dishes for meals ( It`s A buffet !). My room had unpleasant "old hotel carpet" odor upon arrival - got rid of this by keeping window open, otherwise its roomy, big bathroom, has fast Wi-Fi and safe - free of charge. Stay at Sava or save a bit by staying at Zagreb, its a sure bet either way.

"Styria at its best"

6.0

A relic that has seen better days but as it is part of Grand hotel Sava with wich it shares the Dining facilities bar's swimming pool sauna beauty center it's not a bad deal . When we go to Rogasky Its not the Hotel that attracts us but the total charm of the location , the park and the water " DONAT " . The air of magic that permeates this little paradise of middle Europ.

"Great hotel - however in 1970's ...."

6.0

Rogaška Slatina is a beautiful small Slovenian city, very picturesque, traditional, former Austro-Hungarian empire spa resort. One of my colleagues from Nothingham UK would say "Small, but perfectly formed". It has a lot of guests from all over Europe, guests from Italy, Germany, Russia. Russians are however mostly present. As such there are lots of hotels, where few of them are deluxe category, new, some are renewed while some were very good, but they are no longer, not any more ... their patina has years of "experience" and these hotels are tired. One of them is also Zagreb hotel. I believe everyone, including hotel management is perfectly aware of it as well and they plan to renew it on the next possible occasion. I have to admit that this hotel was not the best choice I could do. But (there is always a but....) considering the limited budget for a family stay and very rich breakfast we had, my hotel rating would be "average". I would not be too cruel on the judgment. On the other hand if you have travelled a long way from Italy, Azerbaijan, Russia - you have not made hundreds and thousands of miles to stay in a hotel like this. Pick something else. Yet if you do not mind staying in a rather poor hotel, but still having an excellent breakfast and focusing on your health, treatments and walking around rather than spending your precious free quality time in the room, this hotel is still a rational choice. It is associated with Sava hotel and shares its breakfast room and pool, which is extremely good fact. Breakfast is soo rich that you will not regret to have it and you will definitely enjoy it every bite or moment. Watch your weight ! Pool is also nice, with 2 whirlpools, sauna(s) ... with one word :good. Let me summarize good and "not that good" staff for you for an easier choice. Pros : Price - budget hotel Breakfast - a must have Pool Big rooms, very big. Excellent possibilities for walking around ( this is valid for any hotel) Cons : Tired rooms, tired TV, furniture Elevator (really scary, avoid it, use the stairs) Bathroom
