[La Maiolica] - Centro storico

The location was perfect and it was still easy to find parking on the street. Two bedrooms were spacious and the beds were good. The host was friendly and responsive.

Street noise was loud during the nights. When the temperature outside dropped below 10 degC, the indoor temperature became chilly especially in the bathrooms. This was due to inefficient heat pump fans.

The apartment is incredibly big and comfortable, the bedrooms are large and everything was really clean. The mattresses and pillows are truly comfortable and it is a great place to stay inPalermo

Location and size

Very noisy shower was tiny and had no water pressure. Towels and sheets need to be updated they are old

Pros 1) Location - right in the heart of the old city which is a bit on the gritty side, but we felt safe the whole time. It's Palermo so this isn't clean like Sienna or Taormina. Also, there's a lovely, high-end grocery store right across the street which was perfect for getting bottled water, yogurt, eggs, milk, fresh baguette every morning, etc... 2) Space - We were four adults and needed three bedrooms which is why I chose this place. It's in a building built by the fascist government (brutalism architecture) that was promoting larger families back in the '40s so the rooms are big - the bedrooms, kitchen, dining room. It had two full bathrooms. We had a tour guide/driver who picked us up one morning outside our front door and her first question was "How big is the apartment?" She said anything built later is tiny - what most people live in now so this was a luxury. 3) Heat system worked - by room controls - great as it was January and got into the high 40s/low 50s at night. 4) Host - young kid owns the place and rents it out. Met us on arrival and kept in touch. He had the rules/regs/wifi password/contact info everything printed and posted up on the wall when you first walk in. 5) Had a washing machine and we could hang out our laundry out the kitchen window. 6) Sixth floor of an apartment building filled with locals. Old timely elevator was fun. Cameras in the lobby.

It wasn't especially pretty (brutalism architecture) but we needed function over form and this truly worked well for us.

This wonderful apartment is right off Via Roma, an excellent location right in the center of the historic center. It’s location makes it easy to see and reach all the major sites easily by foot, including the many easily accessible restaurants and stores. The apartment was large, comfortable and exceptionally clean. I recommend it highly.

Check in was smooth, the property was spacious and clean. We were given all the essential information from the get go and a recommended list of places to visit was also provided 😄 Would visit again!

The only thing that was missing was an iron :)
