Nothing. I did not get to stay at the place.

Everything. My weekend getaway in Potchefstroom started off dismally when, on arrival, I was switched to a lower-reviewed establishment without prior notice. I made the reservation on 29 November for check-in on 2 December. I was informed via Booking.com text message while on my way there that I should check in to a different establishment without any explanation given. This establishment has a lower review score on Booking.com and is therefore not a place I would have booked. There was ample time between my booking and the check-in date to inform me of any changes to my booking, but nothing was communicated until I informed the hosts that I am on my way and what time I expect to arrive. This is a typical bait-and-switch scam because the hosts were aware that my options would be limited when arriving in Potchefstroom in the evening after a long journey and they exploited that situation. I communicated my dissatisfaction with the hosts and told them that they should have timeously alerted me of any changes in my reservation, they apologized for the "inconvenience caused" and said they had an "emergency" that required that I be moved to another facility. I suspect they had double-booked the room and decided to ship me off to another establishment. They also offered compensation in the form of a 1-night refund for my 2-nights booking. I has been almost 4 weeks since I had checked out, and that compensation is yet to materialize, and my texts are no longer being responded to. My rating reflects the dissatisfaction in the service I received and not of the actual establishment as I did not stay where I had booked.
