Exclusive Refurbished-3Bedrooms 2Baths-Malasaña

The location is perfect, out of the noise but in a nice area and really close to a metro station or buses. The apartment has a lot of character, an unusual layout (I assume due to some restructuring work done), it has windows only to the internal yard (that can be good or bad, depending on individual taste). The kitchen and living room are really nice, with a lot of space, high ceilings, cool furniture and a nice big fridge. A bedroom-bathroom pair is basically a "mini apartment" in the apartment with a glass (see-thru) door that can be closed but it's not very handy. There are two bathrooms with showers and that is convenient if you are a group of 4+

It is quite clear that the layout has been modified to obtain some bedrooms (two in the mezzanine and one in the basement) but with questionable results: the "bedrooms" are reachable only thru stairs , the one in the "mini apartment" has a small bed and low ceiling but it's still acceptable. The one accessible from the kitchen has no door, the ceiling is around 1.68m high and has an area that is even lower with a sharp edge of the same color of the ceiling (really dangerous), the wall of the bedroom facing the kitchen is basically a big window that let the light from the kitchen in, the bed is really small, squeaky and uncomfortable. The third bedroom is in the basement and it's the best in terms of size but it has no windows and it's reachable by a tiny steep spiral staircase that is missing the railing on top and that is dangerous (and not only for small kids). The other bathroom has two glass doors (weird choice) and it's in the middle of the house not giving you much privacy (with one of the door that wasn't close properly). If you are tall or with any kind of mobility issue this apartment is not suitable at all and family with small kids should not consider this as well. Stating that it's 3-bedroom apartment is too much in my view and I really think that some of the flaws need to be solved asap as they might cause injuries.

We met a young lady at the apartment for checkin. She gave us a brief walkthrough. All other communication was via WhatsApp. Not happy about that! This is NOT a family friendly apartment, especially if you have young children. Two bedroom were upstairs with narrow and steep steps and no handrails. The third bedroom was in a basement level with a very narrow and steep circular stairway. It was open at the top and dangerous for young children. The apartment came with 5 fans, 2 of which did not work. This was reported via WhatsApp and we were basically told that 3 was adequate. Many minor issues from faucets that allowed water to run on the floor to a kitchen faucet that was very loose. One bathroom sink would not drain and the hotwater heater stopped working the morning we departed. Cold showers. It worked out, but, I would not go back and I definitely wouldn't recommend it for families with younger children. I have a lot of pictures, but, the system won't allow me to upload all of them.
