The bathroom smelled a bit

A spacious apartment close to the city center with two bedrooms and a cozy living room that has a sleeping sofa. It also has two toilets and one shower, which makes things super convenient.

Close to the centre but tucked away so it was still quiet and peaceful when you're trying to sleep. We didn't hear any noise from neighbours, either. The place looks great and is really generous in size. It was reasonably priced, too. The information given for how to find it etc. is excellent (you'll need to WhatsApp message the owner for these though as Booking removes the links in the messages). There is a coffee machine with some pods that were apparently delicious.

It smells really bad - the fridge should be condemned and the first bedroom smells strongly of cigarettes (which is obviously terrible for asthmatics). The bathrooms have no proper ventilation for any smells, either. The main bathroom only has a tiny window that vents steam into what looks like an enclosed balcony/smoking area. The apartment was freezing cold as no one has turned the heating or hot water on before we arrived, despite knowing that we wouldn't get there until the early hours. I ended up having to have a cold shower and eventually worked out the heating the next day after not much sleep - there was one extra duvet but that's it across the whole apartment, no blankets or even XL towels to help keep us warm. The beds and sofa are all very uncomfortable. There was no plug for the bathtub (we tried asking via WhatsApp but that went ignored). There is just one sofa in the living room which seems odd for the size of the room and the apartment - it needs armchairs in there and also something for evening entertainment as the TV is too small for the room. There are no hooks in the rooms for things like airing out towels. Communication through the Booking.com messaging system was terrible - I tried to explain that the links had been removed to the information regarding accessing the apartment and I just kept getting copy-paste messages regarding extending my booking. Eventually, I sent messages via WhatsApp where they sorted everything. We had planned to check out at 11am as our train wasn't until 2pm. The cleaner arrived at quarter to 11 and seemed annoyed that we were still there.
