"Horrible. This house should NOT be rented as is."

1.0

This house is NOT set up for short or long term rental. Crappy and/or broken furniture: the dining table was an old glass patio table and awkward to eat at because of the shin bar around the legs. 2 of 3 pressed-board dining chairs had a broken or missing bolt to hold the seats in place and were THE most uncomfortable we've ever had to sit on. The standing fan held together by several feet of string (?) was too loud and unstable to use when turned on. 1 of 3 very old and rusted lawn chairs was broken in half when we arrived and of the 2 remaining, 1 required repair to the seating mesh so that we at least had 2 chairs to sit outdoors (these were the “comfortable” chairs of the house). A sun umbrella for the even cheaper outdoor plastic table would have been welcome. The synthetic bedding was very uncomfortable in the heat and no extras to allow for laundry (should same-day service fail). Sleeping pillows turned out to be cushions recycled from very old couches. No dressers to unpack suitcases into and only 4 hangers provided, 2 of which could only hang things like a pair of socks or underwear. The medicine cabinet was unusable due to missing knob and the wad of kleenex keeping it closed. The rod to hold the toilet paper was also absent. There was no hot water in the bathroom. Hot water was available in the kitchen but only during the late morning to mid afternoon if the roof’s water tank had been sun heated. And no hot water at all on cloudy days. A lack of sufficient kitchenware (ice cube tray, salad bowl, tea towels, mop) in the most minimalist of kitchens furnished with plastic plates and bowls and the absolute cheapest of cutlery. Any one of these things we could have chalked up to as a "rustic experience", but the accumulation of all of the above reflects a host that slapped together a rental unit with leftovers and end-of-life pieces. And with the least amount of thought to care or comfort. It wasn't rustic, it was rundown.
