Tranquil, large 1 bedroom garden cottage, 12 mins from OR Tambo International with backup water

Great place! Delicious food! Free Wi Fi!!! Everything was great!

The property was clean and cosy. Situated in a very good neighborhood. The hosts are super friendly, loved their hospitality.

Very friendly host, clean and cozy apartment. We got excellent food for dinner including a glass of wine. There were no guests after us, so we were allowed to stay until late afternoon. Thanks so much for your hospitality. We will come back!

Everything. It was clean, safe, good location, big.

When I was ready to go in the morning. The host had purposely blocked my car, as if she did not want me to run away. That was in a bad taste, no explanation was provided for that. There was ample space for the car to park elsewhere. I have so many questions about that. Other than that the place is good.

The hosts made sure that we were comfortable and well looked after.

The wifi was very sporadic. We use it when we travel, but it was off and on. Part of the problem could be that there was an international issue with the Internet during that time.

So long answer: 1.The hosts Greg and Pen were amazing- nothing was too much for them to do- I now count them as my special friends. 2.The Location-Having lived in Johannesburg before I saw the area as 'low rent", sorry a bit snobby. but my surprise was the nice surroundings and people, black and white, so friendly. So, thank you Solly's supermarket amongst others. 3.Special mention to my "Fan Club" at the property the affectionate dogs and cat-wow! when you are missing your family and have 24 love that is a bonus. Would I strongly recommend this property the answer is yes.

The property was built in 1975 and the extension built later so the shower is old school but having been born built in farmhouse in in 1905 this was not big issue.

The size of the cottage was perfect, with a bedroom, and separate open plan kitchen/dining and lounge. Wifi was excellent. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. The cottage felt more like a home rather than rental property. There were a pair of very friendly dogs running around the garden, and an occasional cat inspection which we loved!

Rubbish could have been collected, and towels replaced more often - a minor point as we could have asked and am sure that this would have happened.

Greg and Pen were very welcoming and a delight to talk to, both before our arrival and during our stay! Their Cottage is very cute, spacious, and fully furnished! On our first night's arrival, Pen cooked us a traditional South African dinner. A home cooked meal after our 14 hour flight from the United States was a real treat! She also cooked us breakfast when we desired. Breakfasts and dinners are an option, but a very welcomed option. The neighborhood feels completely safe to take short walks.

We were hoping Johannesburg would have a good public transportation system, however, this is not the case. The best way to get around the city is either through Uber or Bolt. We recommend you download both apps on your phone before you leave home because once you get here, both apps require SMS texts to verify your identity. As we cannot receive SMS texts in South Africa, we could not download the Bolt app. It's good to have two driver apps available to you, in case you have issues with either one.
