"Beautiful location, but missing the little thoughtful touches that would make us want to book again."

6.0

Location was lovely. Nice enough barn, but badly laid out.

Layout of bathroom, broken toilet roll holder, and ledge around sink. Had someone knock on door to come in and fix these things. I said it was convenient and to come back when we out. Awful roll top bath with very high sides and nowhere to put soap or shampoo etc. Having had hip replacement, I found it hard to get in, so I to have strip washes. Nowhere to put toiletries, so used a chair from dining table. Skylight in bedroom, right over sleeping area, so woken up early every morning. Torture. No curtain or blind in kitchen window, and window backed onto public footpath! Only 3 knives, forks and spoons, bit stingy. Lots of lids to saucepans that were not there. Fridge had no freezer compartment.

"Location and views from the property are lovely but no garden if you have a dog"

7.0

N/A - self catering

Key press didn't work on arrival and wasn't sorted by departure. Oven didn't appear to work efficiently. No chopping board, or wooden spoons. There is no garden and therefore not suitable for dogs. However we still enjoyed sitting in the driveway with good views. A table outside would have been useful. On leaving when stripping the bedding, the mattress protector had obviously not been changed for a while which was very evident Dining room chairs were very rustic to the extent they were rusty and cushions would have helped.

"Beautiful place but it wasn't checked properly with key safe very stiff and broken chairs"

6.0

Beautiful position and outlook, I liked the wood interior, simple and attractive design. The woodburner worked well and heated the house.

We coudn't open the key safe even though the code was right, asked 3 passersby who couldn't either, luckily we had a pen knife to lever it open othewise we would have been stuck. My friend could have been injured when a wooden chair collapsed under her. On checking the other chairs two others were unsafe. The owner replaced them with rusty metal chairs which were cold to sit on. There wasn't much hot water for a bath.

"Great centre for exploring and warm base to return each evening."

Had everything we needed. Warm and comfortable. Unique.

Tricky to work out how to get hot water but the VayCay guy was very helpful.
