"Comfortable and practical apartment in fantastic location"

9.0

Warm, friendly and helpful host. The location is perfect, stunning views, the relaxing sound of the sea, yet in easy walking distance of train station, supermarkets and several excellent restaurants (I would particularly recommend BG d’Or 2.0, on C/ d’Isaac Peral, it was fantastic, twice!). The apartment itself is a little dated, but that is reflected in the price and it’s character grew on me the longer I stayed. The furniture is clean, modern and comfortable and the Wi-Fi was excellent, never any connection issues with two of us using it frequently. Cleaning products were provided, also shower gel and a few capsules for the coffee machine and tea bags. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, hob, oven and fridge-freezer, so there is plenty of scope for cooking meals. There is a small but well stocked Spar very nearby for essentials, so you don’t have to carry your heavy stuff too far, and there are several larger supermarkets within about 10 minutes walk. The washing machine is on the roof terrace, so you can do your laundry with spectacular views! There is no lift in the building though, so get used to the stairs… Could make a few minor improvements with the addition of a toaster, kettle, hairdryer or proper wine glasses (though the Babycham type ones did fit with the retro look), but these were not essential to us, so it would not put me off returning, which I would happily do.

The only main drawback was that you need to use your key to lock and unlock the main door to the building, every time you enter or exit. Not only is this not ideal in the case of emergency, but we got woken up very early one morning as the neighbours were checking out so had left their keys in the apartment but had omitted to send someone down to unlock the front door so they could get out of the building, and were panicking in case they missed their flight. I understand that changing the type of lock would require the agreement of all the owners in the building, but would definitely be an improvement if it could be done.
