"Lovely comfy and safe cottage, perfect for walks to the beach and great local pub ! I"

8.0

I Loved the location, really pretty and about 20 mins through wetlands to the beach, which is really lovely. The people are very friendly. Lovely little cottage which is perfect for someone on their own, I felt very safe and secure. I would defo go back. I would really recommend a stay. The local pub is excellent. Just a few little quibbles which could easily be fixed to push the experience to exceptional.

Could have been better facilities, rather than the 2 chairs a sofa would have been more welcome. The mat and chairs were bit on the scruffy side. Also utensils, if you like to cook as I do, I was so pleased I took my own wok with me which enabled me to cook some good meals. There is a lack of cooking utensils such as spatula, wooden spoons, decent knife to cut bread and veggies with, and the cutlery is pretty basic. A decent hoover could be provided too, the one onsite wasn't that good. The home from home experience would have been a lot better. The cottage is a good 40 min walk from Rye itself, so improvements in the cooking utensils would be good as local pub not open all week and limited times, that may well change in the summer. The local pub is v v good. I'd love to go back for Christmas but it is too expensive then for what it is.

"Unique, spacious cottage right on the edge of Rye Harbour nature reserve"

9.0

Lovely cottage on a private road with plenty of fuel for the log burner - very welcome on our mid January visit. Felt very clean and spacious and the water was very hot. Close to the nature reserve and perfect for a longer stay. There is a small courtyard garden that is very private and a parking space if needed (we came by train and walked from Rye station). Lettings agency were very responsive to any concerns prior to our stay.

Would benefit from a few kitchen extras such as a colander and peeler and matches for the log burner

"Pleasant but not an outstanding cottage for the cost."

6.0

Accommodation pleasant.

The main issue was the lack of instructions on how to operate appliances, e.g. heating, towel rail, woodburner etc. Due to the lack of heating, i.e., unable to operate central heating, no kindling etc I spent a cold first night. I eventually found the heating was switched off and switched it on and I found the switch for the towel rail which was very well hidden. This rather spoilt my first impressions of the cottage and is all easily rectified.
