Beautiful 5 bedroom house with hot tub & fire pit

All the rooms were really nice, the garden is beautiful. Had everything we needed and more!

The standard of accomodation was exceptional. The property was spacious both inside and out, well equipped and in great condition. Some nice welcoming touches of Wine and Welsh Cakes plus the unsolicited offer of an earlier check in as there was no prior occupancy. The time of year was a little too chilly to get the full benefit of the hot tub but one of our party braved and enjoyed it. The "Games Garage" was great for a few games of pool and table tennis. The property is down a country lane but gives easy access to the lovely market town of Abergavenny and for those that want to drive up to the Sugar Loaf car park for further hiking as we did. I have been arranging university reunion breaks for my (aged) friends for a number of years now. They all congratulated me on finding the best accomodation yet so happy to pass on the plaudits!

Nothing really to do with the property but there was a bit of uncertainty with the booking even though it was made in good time. This was apparently caused by a hiatus due to the owners clarifying their own tax situation. This caused a temporary pause in bookings but we had an amicable exchange with Amy who provided us with the reassurance that all was good for our Booking. Com reservation. We wouldn't hesitate to use the property again if we are ever in the vicinity!

We loved it, house and the grounds surrounding are beautiful. Well equipped with lots of games to choose from also. We will be booking to stay again!

Lovely location only about 10 minutes from Abergavenny town. Beautiful scenery and such a characterful home. Such a great place to spend time with friends or family. Loved the outdoor facilities.

The only minor thing would be that some of the pillows were quite thick and firm on some of the beds. Some rooms had softer alternatives in the cupboards but the en-suite room didn't. Minor issue :)

Beautiful property with everything you could wish for a wonderful stay. Fantastic outside area with hot tub and BBQ/outside kitchen space. Games room and garden with wonderful views. House has everything you need and more. Dog friendly too. Amy next door was very helpful too. Lovely welcome pack. Would Recommend and the local area is lovely to explore.

Just returned home from a 4 night stay at the Old School House with the family. We were a group of 8 adults, child free for the weekend, visiting South Wales with our parents on a trip down memory lane! The house is set in the beautiful Welsh countryside down a lovely country lane, and is about a 30 minute walk into Abergavenny. Me and my wife travel a lot, and over the years staying at different places we have learnt what makes a good holiday home and what doesn’t. A good holiday home for us is somewhere that caters for every comfort or convenience, it’s the little touches that make a good holiday home, and The Old School house had it all, from olive oil and spices, to washing powder, and even a dog box! These things are only small, but they all add up! It’s like going from home to home. So unless you have specific needs, you can travel pretty light. The house itself is lovely and clean, and the garden is beautifully maintained. Good sized bedrooms upstairs which were comfortable for 2 sharing adults. The ground floor room is a little bit small, but was perfect for my elderly parents who would have struggled to get up and down the stairs all weekend, as they’re a little steep and narrow. You are able to lock off the downstairs toilet so that anyone using the ground floor bedroom has their own toilet and shower room. Apart from the kitchen and diner, we didn’t use the other living areas in the house as we were out and about, pretty much all day and night during our stay. We did spend a few hours in the garden area last night, enjoying the fire pit and hot tub, after an early evening drink in town. We even made use of the outdoor kitchen and threw some steaks on the grill. Amy who manages the property was easily accessible via phone / text, and she kindly allowed us to check in slightly earlier so that we were able to set up some surprise decorations for my parents anniversary, before they arrived!
