"Lovely house for a group gathering"

9.0

The house was clean and warm with plenty of space for our group of 11. Quiet location within easy reach of shops in Leek. The hot tub was a big hit and felt quite private despite being in the front garden. Well equipped kitchen (just remember all your seasonings, oil etc). The layout was a bit quirky which made for great games of hide and seek for the children! They also enjoyed burning off energy outside on the grass. The doors at the bottom of the stairs meant we didn’t need to worry about the toddler escaping up them unnoticed!

Sound travelled easily through the ceiling/floor between downstairs and upstairs.

"Comfortable, fireplace, hot tub!"

9.0

Spacious, clean, fireplace, the hot tub and the house were warm on arrival, comfortable beds, very happy! Great location and easy parking for 2 cars.

Only one toilet roll per bathroom and no hand soap at all. Towels were a little small and as it was winter if the checkout was 3pm instead of 4pm we would have been unpacking in daylight rather than in the dark. Knives were all dull.

"It’s an old house so don’t expect ultra modern deco."

8.0

The space in the house and its quirkiness.

Kids were a bit wary of the spiders

"Nice enough stay. Constructive feedback given will hopefully improve future goers stay!"

The Cottage was a true cottage!! Very rustic and as to be expected. Well equipped kitchen. Cosy sitting room with a log fire. Had the hot tub that we were looking for. Good location for Alton Towers/local shops and big enough for our group. Ample parking. Washing machine, dryer, fridge freezer in the utility room was good. Beautiful nature around. Large 'front garden' which is great for kids and dogs. But no facilities for kids - just a grassy area - so good for ball games etc.

When they say bring your own stuff - they really meant it. Basic hand wash and extra towels would have been helpful - like they have in other places we have stayed in across the country. The hot tub is weirdly placed in the 'back garden' open to the street and neighbours - the 'front garden' is more private and larger. You are not allowed to use the towels for the hot tub. So, you have 1 to use for the duration of your stay - you shower and use the same wet one to dry off with post tub and the same wet towel to dry yourself post shower!! We also gave the opportunity for the agents to rectify the 'hygiene' issues we mentioned and discussed - unfortunately we were only offered a slightly late checkout - which wasn't really helpful and then we didn't hear from anyone. You really need to wear slippers or socks around the place. The rooms were full of old cobwebs and dust behind sofas etc, disgusting kitchen/dining floors - even though tiled, we tried cleaning ourselves due to the water drip from the hot tub coming in - but the cleaning stuff was filthy itself. Do expect natures creatures to visit though - you are in the countryside! Beds were not comfortable - but that is a personal choice of how comfy you need them to be. The furniture is somewhat rundown and could do with an upgrade. Bug treatment should be considered to minimise the little intruders!
