Rustic Room next to beach

When I arrived initially (just after dark) there was no door-bell or response when I knocked. I texted the number given for the host ( from Booking.com) and had no reply. There was therefore anxiety for 10 minutes or more,.. then relief when host appeared at the entrance.

Travellers feel more assured if a host replies to text messages/calls promptly. My rented room was in the attic, adjacent to another guest room, in an historic dwelling house, currently undergoing renovation. Thus there were some loose light-fittings, ladders and paint-buckets against walls, and in the communal attic kitchenette (shared between 2 guest rooms) there were sockets without plug-fittings, and still spaces for appliances yet to be fitted. My room itself was presentable and appealing, and decorated with some paintings of the artist-owner. There is a high-end en-suite shower-room. Though at the top of the house, there were Velux (roof) windows for natural light, and 2 port-holes. The situation of the current renovation work was probably reflected in the attractively low price charged; ...It will be an even more impressive house when the decoration work is complete.

Very helpful and friendly host. Spacious, comfortable, nicely presented rustic old building. gorgeous bathroom.

Very low water pressure, no chairs or table to sit at.

The room was recently renovated, and looked ok. However, construction/renovation work was still going on in the entire building and the entire way from accessing the building up to the room was dusty and in works. There was no hot water when we stayed. However, we were aware of these inconveniences from other reviews. We were ok with the price and the amenities, especially because the location is very central, right in the old town and close to the beach.
